8 strikeouts! Pepsi!

Which reminds me that there’s a new version of that promotion, announced at the game last night - if the A’s win by at least seven runs, everyone gets a coupon for free Pepsi at Lucky’s upon exiting the stadium. At least, that’s how it was supposed to work - since it was a fireworks game the crowd exiting the stadium was so huge we probably trampled the poor guy with the coupons. I hate Pepsi and Lucky’s anyhow.

Don't blame me, I voted for Ice Cream

by Englishmajor on Jul 12, 2008 11:16 AM PDT reply actions

I thought it was if the A's scored 7 runs...

because we got the coupons from that game when Huston blew the lead twice and the A’s ended up with a walk-off win that scored the 7th run… anyway, it made me think of the Big 3 strikeout promotion too. Too bad I don’t even know where the nearest Lucky’s is.

by whiteshoes40 on Jul 12, 2008 11:21 AM PDT up reply actions

I think that turned into a Trader Joe's

at some point before Lucky’s came back… but I’ve been out of the area for a while, so I could be making that up.

by whiteshoes40 on Jul 12, 2008 11:27 AM PDT up reply actions

If you ever absolutely HAVE to go to a Lucky's

the one in El Cerrito Plaza is okay. It’s newer and thus less dingy than most. Are you over by the Trader Joe’s next to Rockridge BART or the one by Lake Merritt?

Really?

This kind of reaction confuses me. If Harden does well (and doesn’t get hurt):

1. Harden is better off. He gets a better contract, a more promising rest of his career, and a better life. Good for him.

2. It proves Beane isn’t infallible. More teams will want to trade with him, and will be less cautious.

3. Maybe we can stop talking about the damn curse after this year. Talking about curses annoys me.

Terrible play at short by Theriot and the Cubs blow the win for Harden

Alfonzo grounder to Theriot’s right, a diving stop, and he turns on the ground and tries to throw to second but has no idea where it goes and it’s over Fontenot’s head. If he holds it, it’s still bases loaded, 2 out, and up 1. Now it’s tied.
