4 out of 11 best pitchers AL ERA and texas sucks
1. Dush-1.91 for a comanding lead. a huge .43 lead over the next non A's pitcher, C.Lee from Clevland . Oh, he's also First in the Majors with a .17 lead over Cin's E.Volquez. And both used to be Texas Rangers who are a well deserved last in AL TEAM ERA.
2. Having the pitcher with the Best ERA in baseball really is impressive enough. BUT....we also have the second best AL ERA with HARDEN's 2.15. I know he's 15 innings away from being officially on that list but tell that to any team who has to face us. Im pretty sure texas messed up one year by not drafting Harden when they could have. because they suck.
3. then there's a pair of outstanding young unknown leflty's in 9th Evland and 11th Smith respectavly.
note;(do you know how many teams have NEVER said that? ) another note: (how did Billy know to get Evland? have you seen Evlands stats in his 40+ games in the majors the last four years? a horrible 8+ ERA. ) Of course texas could have traded for them last year but they didnt' so again they suck.
The reason there ERA's are so low? the Top Three of Dush, Evland and Harden don't just give up very few home runs, they give up by far the fewest . with Evland giving up the least HR's in the major leagues with 3 and Dush tied for second with 4 and Harden's tied for fourth in all the majors with only 5 giving up. Some one needs to look that stat up over the last hundread years and see if any team ever did something like that before. IMPRESSIVE.

Duke
was drafted like in the 18th round, I’m sure any team should have gotten him.

Dush? Pronounced "Douche"?

Texas had Duke and traded him to us. Boston origionally drafted him, I believe.
And as much as I like ripping on Texas, I don’t know if its really something we can do atm.
After all, Texas is to pitching as we are to hitting. Texas has good hitting, but is also in a good hitting, bad pitching park.
We have good pitching, but are also in a good pitching, bad hitting park.
And while Texas has bad pitching, we have just as bad offense, perhaps worse since we have below replacement level players in our lineup.
And while you say Texas could have had Eveland for nothing, don’t forget that they got Bradley who is hitting awesome essentially from us for free, and they got Hamilton for Volquez, who no one expected to be this good. Basically that means that at the time, we could have made that trade, dealing, I don’t know, Gio Gonzalez (if we had had him in time) or maybe even Chad Gaudin or dare I say Joe Blanton for him.

Technically, Texas got Bradley from SD.

Nothing technical about it
His contract with the A’s expired at the end of last season and he became a free agent. San Diego didn’t even get comp picks for him, because he wasn’t offered arbitration.
Texas got Hamilton because Cincinnati wanted Edinson Volquez. That deal was not publicized ahead of time, and there’s absolutely no reason to believe that the A’s could have gotten in on it, or that Cincinnati would have accepted someone other than Volquez as their preferred prospect. When two teams talk, that conversation isn’t broadcast by conference call to all 28 other front offices.

I am saying that if you say that Texas could have gotten Eveland for free from AZ
than you have to be able to make the argument that we could have gotten Hamilton.

OK, sure
I wouldn’t make either of those statements…

Our pitching is not as good as it seems ...
nor is Texas’ as bad as it seems.
The Coliseum is one of the better pitchers’ parks out there and the Ballpark in Arlington is one of the worst. What’s more, our pitchers have the benefit of arguably the best defense in the league behind them, while Texas has one of the worst.
And if you’re looking for reasons why certain teams are over performing expectations and others are under performing, look no further than the leader board for defensive efficiency.
