Around SBN: L'Equipe Claims He's Coming To Chelsea On Five Year Deal

Open Thread: Game 60 - A's vs. Tigers (cont)

After the A's jumped out to a 3-0 lead, courtesy of Crosby's 20th double of the season, Duke's great outing turned scary as he melted down in the 6th, but recovered with a huge DP to send the game into the bottom of the 6th.

A's clinging to a 3-2 lead.

Bowen's starts

4-11 Blanton
4-20 Eveland
4-27 Blanton
5-2 Blanton
5-15 Smith
5-18 Duchscherer
5-29 Eveland
6-4 Duchscherer

Looks like Blanton would be the choice, except he hasn’t caught him in more than a month now.

but its not really fair to alot of the young left handed hitters. Barton, Gonzales and Jack H. dont look comfortable up there at all. Gonzales just swings at anything close against Left handers.

They're better than many, but...

...I still remember a game early in the season against the White Sox where the color commentator suggested that many of Chavez’s Gold Gloves were less due to his defense and more due to his offense.

Pretty inexcusable to me.

At least I can also “see” the game in one of the DirecTV Game Mix boxes. I just can’t actually watch the channel because it’s blacked out, but it shows on the 8-channel list.

Well, if Brown OPSd .900 against LHP, I'd say keep him

But he doesn’t. And I think Davis is actually more valuable because of his defense (especially with Cust playing the OF). And I think every other OF option is more worthy of the roster spot.

Of course, sending down Gonzalez to get more seasoning wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. I just don’t want Brown playing everyday.

Yet

They will be covered on ESPN 10x more than the A’s will for the rest of the season. It’s like the national media forgot that Detroit wasn’t relevant for two decades, then they had one seemingly fluke year, and all of a sudden they are the greatest franchise ever. I love seeing them lose.

Put it in perspective

They’ve been a crap team for so many years, and then they make it to the World Series against an 83-78 team… and play like crap.

Then they go out and spend a bunch of money this year… and play like crap.

I’d be bitter too.

Calero also needs some work, doesn't he?

Especially if he’s rusty. Might as well do it up 8.

I know you don’t like him, but if he can still give the team something useful then I think even you would like that.

Actually, I consider Kiko to be more valuable than Braden

And also more fragile (so I want to limit his innings for that reason, too).

It probably doesn’t matter with the off day tomorrow, but I’d rather know Calero is available than Braden, so use Braden in the blowout.
