Open Game Thread: Game 82 - A's at Angels (cont.)

So long as the ball is thrown well below the head.
But on a crappy changeup that Garland obviously just lost control of? That’s paranoid/hysterical. So, yes, Kendall would advocate doing that. Or Scioscia.

I'm dead serious here -
Pinch hitting for Cust (with E. Brown) would make a lot of sense, given the situation, a LHP coming in, and the fact that Cust should be leaving for defense in the bottom of the inning. Then you put Brown in the OF for Cust, or Brown and R. Davis for Cust and R. Sweeney (he looks like he’s hurting a bit).

Ziggy was up, but I think
the A’s should let Smith go the distance unless he runs into trouble – he’s dealing, the Angels aren’t making inroads, and the pitch count isn’t a factor.
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
I kinda like the idea of the CG for Smith
But maybe saving some innings on his arm would be good. He’s going to blow by his season IP total this year anyway…

Thing is, the pitch count is low
He won’t get to 100.

Oh, yeah, totally
I’m just thinking about the second half of the season.

With such long stretches without off days coming
and 2 rookie starters, will the A’s go to a 6 man rotation, with Gaudin semi-regularly spot-starting ?

I'm surprised how often this is mentioned. Is LaRussa managing?

If Tony was managing, Greg Smith would be hitting 8th

I predict everyone will stay healthy and Eveland and Smith will cruise through
their career highs in IP. Gaudin will remain an unredeemed insurance policy

I swear they're the only announcers in baseball
who sound sexually excited when their team is doing well. It’s downright disturbing.
