Jersey's & Bobbleheads
I was just noticing on e-bay that there are a ton of the Vida Blue Jersey's for sale- most in the thirty dollar range. It seems that this is the way it always works- whenever there is a bobblehead or jersey giveaway, hundreds of people will rush to e-bay or other sources to quickly offer the items for sale. So my question is this- is it really worth the effort? I mean it looks like you have to stand in line for a few hours to be assured of getting any of the premium giveaway items- I think we stood in line something like two and half hours once for the Catfish Bobblehead- and then you have to go through the effort of listing it on bobblehead, checking and responding to e-mails, shipping the item, etc.... all for $30 ? It doesn't seem like it's worth it.
I'm curious if anyone of the AN'ers regularly sell their promotional items on e-bay or if you are like me and you keep every little thing.....

oops
can’t type today, I of course meant “listing it on e-bay”, not bobblehead. I guess you could list it on the bobblehead but not much chance of selling it there…..

I don't think it's worth it
A few years back, the bobblehead would go for $50 or more on ebay. I see a decline with it’s ebay value and also if you wait a few months you can get it for about $10. I used to sell my extras or even go back in line for extras but it was a hassle and I now have a handful of bobbleheads in closet just sitting there. I guess, for those who live paycheck to paycheck ,a little more work on the side is worth it for them.

Agree
It’s not worth it to wait in line if you want to sell the freebies. Two hours of your time is worth more than $25 (or at least I would think so.)
Also, I agree with What Would Rickey Do. If you really want to buy a SGA item, wait a few months or even a year. The most expensive time to buy a giveaway item is the weeks after the ballgame.
A few years ago....
My kids and I were in line for a bobblehead game and they had just opened the gate. This guy came out with a bobblehead and put it in his trunk that was FULL of bobbleheads (from other giveaways, I assume).
I suppose it’s just like anything else – you need to work really hard to make a decent haul on something like that.
Myself, I LOVE the bobblehead giveaways and wouldnt think of selling any. We live in Eureka and have made it to at least three bobblehead days per season the last four years.
My kids go bonkers for the bobbleheads and all four of them (as well as myself) have built up nice collections, and while my wife gives hers away to friends, going to more and more games has turned her from somebody shushing me and the kids from chanting Lets go Oakland! for fear of bothering people, to leading the cheers…
BTW, I wouldnt mind trading ! I would love a Big Hurt, Kotsay, or Street, and have a Suzuki, and Haren to trade.
As an addendum,
I was shocked to see the big white tent of discounts outside the coliseum at the angels series a couple of weeks ago…
I always thought they waited until the end of the season for that…anyway, I immediately spotted a 36 inch Nick Swisher Bobblehead, and as fathers day was coming up…..I not so subtley told my wife that I would love this for my gift (as I was paying for it).
Damn jersey and bobblehead pirates!
I blame these guys for being about ten people in line from getting a vida blue jersey.
