Open Thread: Game 72 - A's at Arizona (cont)

We head to the 8th inning in a very different game than the previous two. A's and D-backs tied 1-1, after Embree nagivated out of a jam involving an infield single and a strikeout on the bases.

LET'S GO OAK-LAND!

Why does he continue to put Foulke and Embree in these high leverage situations when there’s better options available?

I want a baserunner in that situation....

He swung at a ball on 2-0…..That certainly limited the likelihood that we would get a baserunner.

Bring back Hammer.

by OaktownPower on Jun 19, 2008 3:31 PM PDT up reply actions

not to mention

closers don’t like when they get behind even in a single count. If you can force a 3-0 and make him pitch odds are better things are going to happen.

If cros swung at a 2-0 fastball down the pipe, no problem. But that was nowhere near the zone, his discipline should be a bit better. Although i think cros has been frustrated this series, his focus may have been off a little.

And the more base runners the better. Especially in a one run game. Stupid for swinging at that pitch. plain and simple.

lousy offense

totally predictable- 15 runs 2 games ago then nothing for the next 2 games-i hate when the Athletics have a big scoring game cause that means they tank it in the next game. And how much longer are we gonna make excuses for Joe Blanton-hes a freakin 3 and 10-pitching like—well u know-why not take a team up on their offer for him and get some good young talent for him-ship him off!

in number of times they’ve scored 0 or 1 run, and 3rd in number of times they’ve scored in double figures. I’m inferring they’re not 2nd or 3rd in number of times they’ve scored between 2-9.
