PrintWell, that first game thread didn't do much for me.
Aside from their pitching and their hitting, the game so far has been all A's. After 3 innings, the A's run differential in the first two games of this series has been reduced from +14, to only +6 with a 15-9 tally.
Instead of keeping the game close and finding the A's offense to blame for a heart-breaking loss, Blanton changed things up by giving up 8 runs, including 2 in the first, and a shocking bases loaded double from Dan Haren. It's now 8-0 D'Backs, and it could be a long six innings the rest of the way.
Show some life, A's!

I guess if they were flirting with the Mendoza line and showing no promise
than I would agree. However, Barton shows pretty good plate discipline meaning that he is not overmatched. CarGo looks quite comfy to me at this point and we have no true CF’er so he may as well learn on the job.

Last time I was on here
I stated the facts. Barton CAN become a very good 1st baseman. he is not there yet. His OPS is .669, that is 41st in MLB for 1st Baseman. He has a long way to prove that he is a SPECIAL player. Like I said before, there was a huge amount of Dan Johnson love at one time also.

What’s your case against Gonzalez? He’s handling himself well up here so far.

I said if it were a true rebuilding year they could use some more seasoning. How is that putting down a player or saying that he is not good? Dont even try and try to put words in my mouth. Gonzalez is OPS .658. 127th best in MLB.

There is no one stat
If the team is rebuilding, they might as well get their experience against Major League pitching now instead of in a year or two where it’s going to hurt the team more if they struggle.
How you have so much trouble understanding that simple concept, I have no idea.

thats awesome. Playing in Sac would not hurt his LD% at all. I think he is going to be a very good player, the leather looks awesome. It takes time though and every player is differant.

Exactly what I said
at the beginning of this what-turned-into-being-a-stupid-argument.
But to me, the question to ask yourself is not how Cargo and Barton rank in comparison to the rest of baseball, but to the rest of the organization. Honestly, do we have anyone better than Barton at 1B right now? Do we have anyone better than Cargo? I really don’t think we do, unless you’re an Emil Brown fan.
