Vida Blue Jersey Day: How Early Should I Get There?
I'm going to the game on the 22nd this month for the Vida Blue jerseys. This'll be the first time I've gone to a promotional game with the intention of getting the thing they're passing out that day. I usually don't care enough about what ever they're passing out to go early enough. But seeing as how I've wanted a 70's A's jersey for a long time now, I REALLY WANT TO GET THERE EARLY ENOUGH TO GET ONE!
So, I ask the advice of AN: the game starts at 1:05, gates open at 10, how early should I get to the stadium to get a jersey?

Based on previous experience, before 10:30. Do gates really open at 10? Usually it’s two hours before first pitch for a weekend game.

the media guide
said 10:30 for 1:05 games. That must be for weekday games(?).

For weekdays, it'd be 11:35
I was in line for Kurt Suzuki bobblehead night, and many people in the line (including me) were speculating that because of the promotion they would open two hours before the game even though it was a Friday. They didn’t. It was 5:35 on the dot.

Gates open 2 hours before the game on weekends
so the gates will open at 11.If you get there before the gates open you should be okay. The jersey promotions seem to be more popular than the bobbleheads this year.

Get there early
The last Jersey giveaway had long lines way before the gates opened.

Get there at 9:30 if you want one in your size for sure.

Speaking as an A's Giveawayologist
I have never seen the lines that I saw so early & move so fast on the last shirt giveaway. I was like the 50th person in line at the BART ramp. I went in got my shirt , went back out to try to score another one for a fan who could not make it, went back to the same line where there like 150- 200 people in line. Got within 75 people of making it back to the front when it was announced that all gates were out. They were gone in less than half an hour.
So,my advice, pick an early arrival time and then get there earlier. the XL & XXLs go the fastest.

Mr. A's GIVEAWAYOLOGIST.....
I’m really fiendin’ for that vida jersey or the dave stewart jersey later on in the season. However, XL is way too big for me to sport in a non-slob looking fashion. My question to you therefore is: WHAT IS THE RANGE OF SIZES THEY GIVE AWAY?
I never understood why they always give out XL’s since that is WAY too big for most people I know.
Thanks for the 411.

I thought about that right after I pushed submit......
So Mr./Ms. can you answer my question? Need I be more politically correct?

No politically correct, more like
anatomically correct :)
Not for nothing, but the XL, XXL shirts ran out quickly.

Who wears XXL....
I’m not going to be politically correct here – come on people – XXL really?
This is america I suppose – home of the big mack and people who sport XXL shirts. UNBELIEVABLE.

My husband wears
an XXL. I bet plenty of guys and gals do. There are a lot of us who are overweight on this site who post. Why be so insulting? May we please have your permission to attend the A’s games ?
Try being a little less insulting and use a little more common sense when you post, please.

Thank you, Mr. Devo....
I hope I included the appropriate prefix…... ;). If not, just say so and it will be duly noted.

on that note,
I noticed at Suzuki bobblehead game that there were NO ins/outs once you were inside the park. Other giveaway days I’ve seen that way, yet some days (like, mostly pre-9/11, but some after that too) they DO allow ins and outs from certain gates.
I’d really like to tailgate that same day (22nd is my birthday), and I want the jersey. Should I just call the box office and ask the policy? It seems the one time I did that before they didn’t have a real solid answer for me.
Any advice/info appreciated!

I would not anticipate being able to get in and out.
If you want the giveaway , you may need to buy a cheaper ticket get back in and finish your tailgating.

Get
there right when they open, then there should be no worries. Worst case scenario, buy it off someone.
