Open Thread: Game 65 - A's vs. Yankees
New York Yankees at Oakland Athletics, Jun 11, 2008 7:05 PM PDT
Well, after last night's temper-tantrum-inducing game; the one where I almost came through my TV to throttle Suzuki after his rally-ending DP, we can only hope for a better one tonight. Last night was one of those games where I would have been happy to lose 9-8 in extra innings, rather than watch the A's sorry excuse for offense try unsucessfully for eight innings to tie the game at two.
Ahem.
Justin Duchscherer, fresh off a pretty good start his last time out, will take the mound for the A's as they try to even up the series with the Yankees, and remain 5 games back of the Angels in the West. Yes, they won today; they nearly always do.
The A's will be facing RHP Darrell Rasner (3-3, 2.58 ERA), looking to score more than one run. That would be nice.
Street is questionable for tonight, with his now-disclosed groin injury, but there is good news on the horizon for Casilla, Sweeney, R, and Frank Thomas. Casilla could be back next week, Sweeney may be back any day (once the A's decide how to clear room for him), and Thomas hopes to rejoin the team after interleague play.
LET'S GO OAK-LAND!

The last time an Anaheim team had things break for them all season
the Ducks won the Stanley Cup.
I hope it gets bad for the Angels later on.

I hate the A's organizational hitting philosophy
“take every pitch and look for the walk”
It just leads to them taking strikes down the middle, then striking out on either balls out of the zone when down in the count, or taking a good pitch and striking out looking.
They should be taking Manny Ramirez’s approach to hitting, as much as I hate the guy. Basically, if its a good pitch to hit, hit it, regardless of count. If its a bad pitch, take it.
Yeah
A’s players seems to look to walk instead of hit. Good hitters look to hit and take the walk!
When will then be now? Soon.
Rasner looks good
Im learning instead of beating my head against a wall and getting pissed off, to except and enjoy what the A’s do well-Pitch. Its more fun to watch the game.

$4.50 gas and "premium game pricing" are not helping
Not sure if the A’s can get away with “premium pricing” on a weeknight.
Lets hope that

Gotta love Kazmir ripping the umpire in press today
“Shoebox” he said refering to HP ump Cousins
Said something like he never calls strike 3 looking.
Had strike 3 on hitter who goes to 1st on ball 4 and of course Angels get 2 RBI on bases loaded single with 2 outs to take lead.
Of course Kazmir had Izturis 0-2 and threw a meatball but still.
