Family Night in Stockton
My Wife and I took my son and 2 grandchildren to the Ports game last night. I had been looking forward for over a year to seeing Banner Island Park. We ordered tickets on Friday afternoon. The seats were behind the 3rd base dugout, 3 rows up. Price; $10/ticket with NO SERVICE CHARGE! Parking was $5, but the lot was closed for a car show so we parked by the Arena for free (shorter walk than from most of the lots in Oakland). The food prices were reasonable. But the biggest difference from an A's game is the atmoshpere. There is so much going on that the kids (G-9, B-6) were never bored. What I liked was the fact that Guest Services were friendly and acted like they were happy to see us as opposed to the "seat nazi's" at the Mac. As an entertainment value, you really can't beat a Ports game and you deal with real fans, not Skankee or Blowsox idiots.

My wife, kid, and I headed out to that same Ports game. It was our first time there as well. The ushers were helpful and happy to see us as well. We parked down the street and walked a ways when we got there after standing in line to get in we noticed “no backpacks” new rule. It was a long way back to the car, but the ticket taker was kind enough to let us in with it and with out a big hassle. Nice park. Sold out 5,592 people out there on a chilly friday night. The whole family had fun. It was about an hour drive for us. I’m sure we’ll be back before the season is over. Ports won 3-1 by the way and Brett Anderson looked pretty good pitching 4 scorless innings his first night back from injury.

Ooops
It was a 4-0 whitewash. Raol Padron looked good but he is not MLB caliber. Sam Demel was lights out. The Stadium gun was crazy, but even though it was reading low, Demel showed a 15MPH difference between hos heat (91) and his change up.

Can't beat Ports games
I’ve been to 3 games at the new stadium. Very family friendly and great prices.
How many single A stadiums can you walk 360 around the stadium?
I wish they had this stadium when I lived in Stockton.

Brett Anderson
This game was sold out + about 300 standing room only seats. From what I was overhearing, this was a much, much bigger crowd than usual. I’m sure this had something to do with it being fireworks night.

I was at Friday night's game ...
saw Cahill pitch. His fastball (88-90) has crazy movement, biting in on righties. He was a little wild early and all three of the hits he allowed went for extra bases (2 doubles, hr) but ended up pitching 8 innings, 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks. Once he settled down after the third he was perfect for his last 5 innings.
He was replaced in the 9th by Arnold Leon, who threw a little harder (90-92) but with considerably less and more conventional movement.

I'm a bit disappointed...
...that of the four Ports games I’ve worked this year, I haven’t seen Cahill, Anderson or Leon pitch in any of them. Just weird timing.

That sucks ...
Cahill’s fastball is a joy to watch … especially since I was able to take the entire first row, directly behind home plate and watch him pitch from the same angle as the umpire …

I love shooting from that area, too.
If I don’t get the chance to see him before he goes up to Midland, I’m sure there’ll be a chance in Sacramento sometime.
I could always go out and catch him at an evening game and probably shoot for an inning or two as well.
