Finally, some R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Okay, maybe not respect (yet), but at least some acknowledgement!

ESPN - using their special formula of ranking teams, Oakland finally moved to the number one spot of their Power Rankings.

I get kinda tired about hearing about our rebuilding years and our "virtually unknown" players.  Go watch the Giants, their stats are more reflective of a rebuilding effort.

As Vlae Kerschner of the Chronicle notes, that acknowledgement might just have Oakland mentioned in the first 20 minutes of SportsCenter!

On another note, sometimes SportsCenter is the only way to see any A's action.

Is it true that this year, Oakland Athletics has the lowest number of televised games televised?

It's nice....

but you can’t put much stock into it, because I also ignore the rankings when they are ignoring the A’s. So, I take it all with a grain of salt. Go A’s!

Those rankings put a lot of weight on run differential. I think that’s why we (+42) are so far ahead of the Angels (+6?) in the rankings even though we have the same record.

Oh..

you get the credit for the first post on this subject. Or should I post a fourth?

thank you, but

I’m surprised. Guess it’ll be awhile before we do get some respect.

TV

Some of us watch all of the games out of town with an MLB Cable Package (and a Slingbox when away from home)

I am going to be in Sac this weekend.

My daughter has the baseball package from comcast. Will I be able to see any of the games on that? Like the Texas station or something?

Am I the only one who doesn't care AT ALL if media outlets "respect" my teams?

no. I prefer the indignant game recaps....

I like to hear analysis of the A’s from fans of the A’s. Not from people who don’t understand why Oakland’s even a major league team.

no, 100% of televised games are televised, same as every year.

I don't think power rankings are meant to predict anything

but simply to reflect current performance/results. In that sense, the A’s should be at or near the top, even though they’re not actually the #1 team in baseball.
