Pay attention to who the other team has in the bullpen.

And I think Hannahan is about 3 years past potential. And not any good.

Donnie Murphy equals

Marco Scutaro minus a little defense and clutch factor. Basically, he should never start unless somebody needs an occasional day off

by I_Saw_Ernie_Young's_3_HRs on May 5, 2008 9:04 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Murphy is FAR superior to Scutaro

Offensively. Defensively. Everything.

by thejd44 on May 5, 2008 9:05 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Offensively, some pretty good minor league numbers

though his defense is mostly based on what I’ve seen. Scutaro fails miserably both by the eye test and according to the metrics I trust.

Though so far his bunting ability appears to be

the ability to pop it up foul. I think Millar should have let Roberts try to get it – but then, I’m used to Ellis! Only chance they had, though, was 4-3.

I think Rajai is worth keeping around

But here’s the counter to the argument: A better hitter actually gets a real hit there and doesn’t NEED a fielding blunder + great speed to get the A’s a run.

A pitcher who is quick to react wins that race every time

Even against the fastest runner in the league. Trust me, the pythagorean theorem agrees with me

by I_Saw_Ernie_Young's_3_HRs on May 5, 2008 9:14 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

"quick to react"

is the key here. I understand the pitcher has a shorter distance, but as someone pointed out, a lefty may have his momentum going toward third. Maybe when he eyeballed the swing, he thought the ball was going toward third…who knows…

Goog outcome for the A’s!!

Bradford's

given up 4 homers in like his last 160 innings pitched. That’s impressive.

That always was one of his strong points.

I just like to write “Uh, oh… ‘Sir Fu*ks It Up’ now pitching!”

Just sounds funny IMO.

Look, I don't say this lightly

but please just shut up. If your whining about Street were related to his actual performance, I could deal with it. But if Street closed a game with 3 straight 3-pitch Ks you’d say, “How is this junkballer King everyone?”

Just posting the same, pointless, premeditated and predictable crap is really, really annoying. You hate him so much? Post a damn diary explaining with actual evidence and arguments. Don’t wait until the tensest part of the game to dump your negative crap on us—we actually want Street to succeed.
