Fastest Giveaway Ever !!!!!
What can you say ? I got to the stadium at 9:00 a.m. I was, maybe the 50th person in line. Got my shirt & I went back outside to get back into the same line, was in the line for abuot 15 minutes and were told that that particular gate was out of shirts.
We went to get into the main gate and then an announcement was made that all of the giveaways were gone. It was 11:30 & the gates opened at 11:00.
So, in addition to the almost 10,000 $4 tickets that were on plaza level, they extended the offer to the plaza reserve bleachers. Then they had boy scout day which, ironically all these kids who were not even a twinkle in their parent's eye were given shirts. This contributed to one of the fastest giveaways in years.
The good thing is that they finally got a clue and added a XXL size.
I'm sure the Vida Blue giveaway will be crazy, but I wonder if the promotions are what drove this one up and if the Vida Blue one will be like the usual giveaways (you can usually saunter in up to 12:30) and get one.
My apologies to all who I promised to get a shirt for, but my ringers did not show up.
Ringer #2 convinced Ringer #1,#3 and #4 not to come.
Although, I must say that I did not feel guilty trying to get extras cuz I was trying to get them for longtime diehard A's fans who could not make the trip.
One guy tried to sell his ticket after he learned that they had run out.
What an odd experience.

I got to the gate nearest BART
at 10:45 am. I did get a jersey, although at that point only size L was left.

What I wanna know is --
—how come 10,000 and several people knew to get there before me?
Cripes - I thought the blankets were the biggest giveaway deal - and I’d gladly trade my newly minted/still in the bag blankie for one of these jerseys—an XL, pls, if possible, or a L. I’ll be there tonight, if’n anyone wants to swap.

I got a shirt for you
here’s the deal. he is someone who has a partial ticket and who sits in my section with his three kids. Thing is, he will not return until the Boston series on the 25th of this month.
Now, I know you don’t know me, but I consider myself trustwortthy ( of course I do) if you trust me to get the shirt for you when he comes on the 25th, I’ll happily make the swap.
I can also put up some collateral, if need be. That’s how much I trust this person.
I am usually at every game so if you don’t feel comfortable swapping until I get the shirt from him, we could do it that way also.

Cool.
Where are you this evening? I expect the place to be deserted after yesterday, but then I thought I could show-up at 11:30 yesterday and get a jersey. I can stop by your location, or call me on 415.307.1600 cell. Or I’ll be in 119/21/12 tonight by gametime.
And yes, I do trust that your integrity is worth more to you than a blanket, but if you’d rather do the whole thing at once on the 25th or so, that’s fine too.

I'm sure he'll be thrilled.
Dare I ask “where?” (in the stadium, I mean—not on FSU. Either I already know that part, or I don’ wanna).

Well, that's the second pop culture reference I don't get -- along with "Mel Hall's response."
I found Mel Hall, who was a peculiar patrol craft for several teams, but what’d he say (other than “why yes, I’ll go with you to the prom, little lady.”)
Help, anyone?
BTW, I think that’s also something like what the Manhattan Indians said to the Dutch merchants. Uh-oh.

I think I may know someone who may want to swap.
I’ll e-mail him & get back to you.

We were in line when the gates opened.....
and didn’t get one. I walked thru the crowd offering $10 for an XXL and scored one…...

was that you offering $10 for XXL
in front of Section 225?
If so I’m glad you found someone…if not, I hope that guy found someone…

Tonight I'm doing free seat upgrade.
( which is counter to my claims of integrity) I’ll probably get to the stadium between 6:30 & 7:00 and can come and find you.
I promise that I will get the seat for you on the 25th & deliver it to you one way or another.
Thanks for your trust.

I wish
We could buy 68 replica’s rather than get those lame nylonish things.
I took my daughter to Scout day (we walked around the stadium, it was awesome to see how excited she was when we came in under the stadium and saw the gate open to center field).
Most of the scouts didn’t get give away jerseys because we all got in line and after we were in the line to enter for the parade some dude came around and said “if you want a jersey, go get in a regular line and come back.” As if!

Jersey
whats not to like about a Cache Creek ad on your back?
Enjoy the game

It;s not the Cache Creek
It’s the see through nylonish looking material the shirts are made of. I wish we could buy replica jersey’s for the 68 A’s. I’d wear that thing with pride.

Just want to say thanks again!
I truly appreciate your generosity. Too bad about the jerseys. Had a feeling as I mentioned. I tried for the Eck jersey a few years back with no luck…and I got there not long after the lot opened.
Thanks for going out of your way for us NRAFs. It is really an extremely nice thing to do.

I arrived at the same time (10:45 am)
for the Eck jerseys (I think they had 15,000 of those) but they ran out just before I got in.
With fewer jerseys this time, I guess I got lucky.

Well, I consider this a challenge and am throwing down the gauntlet.
I’m going to get a better, more relaible group of ringers for the Vida Blue shirts. This time, I will get the shirts first & offer them later.

Giveaways
I hope these shirts don’t become Bobblehead like giveaways. I am pretty over having to be in line at 8:30.
Enjoy the game

I don't think so as they don't give retros away that often.
