Eric Chavez sporting white sneakers this afternoon
Marty Lurie confirms that Chavvy will be DH'ing today. Looks like Frank's injury and Chavvy's hot hitting forced Beane's hand. Details as they emerge.
Welcome back Eric. You're still my favorite player.
LET'S GO OAKLAND!
[Note by salb918, 05/29/08 3:06 PM EDT ]
Super confirmed: Gameday shows Chavez batting cleanup. Now why would the A's bat a guy with a .000 average in the cleanup spot?

You guys are hilarious!
And I wish I could be there. It’s killing me sitting a mile away having to WORK, of all things.

Will people be saying to trade him again?
Just curious.
Also: Yay! But boo Frank is out for a while.

This is a good question.
Somebody isn’t on the A’s anymore, unless they 60-day DLd Murphy or something.

Yep, no one will tell me yet.

no 15 is correct, if you subract everyone who should be on the DL

The A's need a Day-to-Day DL
They should be allowed to carry a 35 man roster with 10 guys who just miss a few games here and there.

Frank will get 3 full weeks off
No reason to activate him until after the road games in San Francisco and Phoenix, which end on June 19.
That's a good thing
Give him some rest. Let Chavez DH/play 3rd gradually…will work out.

Sweeneys
Probably had a lot to do with the “minor” injuries of the Sweeneys.

TV
The game isn’t even being broadcast by either of the national sports stations here in Canada. Ugh.
why would the A's bat a guy with a .000 average in the cleanup spot?
Because, as the law of averages proves, over the rest of the season he’ll hit .538 to return to his career average.

not a huge loss, but
is fiorentino really less useful to this organization than jeff gray?
gray has to be like 17th on the RP depth chart.

Hey Syphon
I see the usual Hate for Chavy on the other board. I am going to give him the benefit of all the injuries plus at his worst he is better than Hannahan so I give him a month or so and if he can’t hit then it’s open season on that board on him.
As you know he is not my favorite but I am giving him the chance to see what he can do over the next 6 weeks or so.
injury delay
it’s only been 3 pitches!
