WLD: 5/24 & 5/25 (& perhaps 5/26 too): Deja Vu?
Weird.....the A's and Red Sox are on my tv right now. I think this is last night's game, otherwise I missed my plane flight today and somehow slept an extra eight hours....
I don't have links, I just needed a dump for the weekend. Not that I'll be here this weekend, so really, this is for everyone else. But it's a three-day-weekend, we need a dump....
The game schedule for the weekend:
Saturday: 6:05pm: Beckett vs. Duchschererererer (KICU)
Sunday: 1:05pm: Blanton vs. Lester (KICU)
Monday: An off day. Who the heck scheduled an off day on Memorial Day?!?!?! (not televised)
Dump away all, dump away....

it was even better in context
it followed a whole slew of photos of A’s standing and smiling (or grimacing) while this woman stuck out her tongue in their direction and leered at the camera. Clearly Joe was prepared when she tried to do that in his photo.
Looks and Sounds like Joe was a great guy.
Its just sad. Gone way too soon.
When will then be now? Soon.
I feel for the B' Jays next week.
they come to town on Frank Thomas’ b’day. Can we say 3 HR’s and a HBP, dugouts clear…
Loaized..
lol so will we bring him back like we did Thomas?
Bullpen, of course.
Then again, unlike Thomas’ situation, Loaiza is not only limited to the American League. If he is released and set adrift like Thomas, he would have his choice of placed he can go, and he’d almost definently choose a place that would give him a place to start in the rotation, the most obvious place being Washington where, like Thomas was here, he was comfortable before.
I think we should hold out for Yhency Brazoban
Just for the name alone.

Wow. Fascinating epilogue. I was just explaining who the Rainbow Man was...
... to a couple of my twenty-something co-workers on Friday. Of course, I only knew of him from the television shots at sporting events.
Guess he tasted a little too much of the rainbow.

i would never have guessed that guy was mentally unstable

For once, the neighbors were not quoted as saying
“We never really noticed him around; he was a quiet kind of guy, who kept to himself.”

If that pic doesn't make you stop and think...
...nothing will.
You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all. ~Earl Weaver
Word!
Monday: An off day. Who the heck scheduled an off day on Memorial Day??!
The schedule has been all kinds of jacked-up since the new people took it over several years ago.

I liked it better when it was done before
It used to be done by a married couple who planned everything out by hand. Then MLB decided to do it via computer and gave it to a company, who then proceded to fuck everything up.
Before that, we always had these nice 3 game series, with decent travel times. Afterwards, we get tons of 2 game series and 4 game series, uneven schedules, and flying from Oakland to New York to Cleveland to New York.
Don't blame the computers
Blame the people programming the computers … (sez the guy taking linear programming now) ... obviously, the new company does not have enough constraints in their model. That said, I do wonder if teams are flying less overall than they used to …
That said, the position of doing the schedule for MLB is one of a handful of jobs I’d love to take on (along with roller-coaster designer, anything affiliated Lucasfilm)
Anyone know if the box office is open today?
I need to get tickets for a game next month, and I hate paying the online fees….
There's no crying in baseball!
I don't know, but I'd wager not. But you can just call the box office and buy tickets like that
or at least ask if they are open.
Anyways, the office will be open tomarrow.
Could it get any sweeter than sweeping the Red Sox?
I vote yes . . .

Just look at me. How can you not quake in my presence? @('.')@
I wish yesterday wasn't a holiday.
Their win last night makes gloating today not as sweet.
