Midland RockHounds in Springdale, AR
Hello from northwest Arkansas! Contrary to popular opinion, it's actually very nice here, and everyone I've met so far has the majority of their teeth.
I drove down from Nebraska today to catch the first two games of the RockHounds-Naturals series. I'm covering the game as part of my work at MVN.com , in case you're wondering why I drove six hours to catch a AA game. Well, other than the obvious "love of baseball" factor.
The reason I'm writing is that I have credentials for these games, and wanted to open it up to AN to ask some questions of these guys. If there's anything you'd like me to ask a RockHound, post it in a comment and I'll try to track down the player in the clubhouse after tonight's game, or at some point tomorrow.

Ask Jon Zeringue how to pronounce his name...
Carignan: how are his offspeed pitches coming along?
Guzman: dunno how proficient in English he is (probably OK; he’s been here a few years… then again, Vlad) but assuming you can, ask him what he’s done that’s been so effective at the plate this season. New swing? New approach? More selective? Less selective? Inquiring minds want to know.

I can answer one of those
Zeringue is pronounced “zuh-RANG”. I thought it was “Zer-ING-gay” for a long time, then I recalled that he’s cajun, not hispanic.
I’ll ask Carignan about his offspeed stuff, and try to talk to Guzman. I don’t think he speaks much English - if any - though. During pregame, it was obvious that he and Henry Rodriguez pretty much only talked to each other.

Anthony Recker
I have been following hime since I first met him in Everett, WA while he was with Vancouver. Last spring I talked to him a few times and found him to be polite, pleasant and extremely enthusiastic. If you get a chance, ask him about his resurgence at the plate. He has picked his average up from .200 to the current .271. It seems as though it has taken him a year to hit AA pitching. Also watch how he manages/controls the game from behind the plate.
Thanks.

I'm going to answer the questions
throughout my live blog of tonight’s game. Thanks for the good questions, bamaA’sfan and PaulThomas. I talked to Recker and Guzman, and more.
The first thing I found out is that Guzman is a polite fellow, but he doesn’t speak much english. Still, I found out why he thinks he’s having a better season. In short, opposite field hitting.
