because once or twice in May, Crosby hit an inside fastball
All teams learned from that, and will never throw him another pitch inside ever again.

Can't be afraid to lose a game
If he didn’t want Devine to pitch, then you don’t pitch him unless it’s an emergency. If Smith struggles and gives up a couple runs and they lose, that’s too bad but Geren was thinking long term and I can accept that.
Either he screwed up by not putting Devine in to start the inning or he screwed up by panicking and using a guy he didnt want to use. You can’t have it both ways.

Brown only had to go about 10-15 feet
toward center, then in, tracking the ball as it came in about chest high. About two seconds before he would catch it, you could see in his face… “The ball…is….gone…”
The ball hit him right above the left tit and right on by. He was still looking toward the pitching mound, while the ball proceeded toward the left field wall.

brown sucks, yes...but smith should not have been pitching the 8th
that is just bad coaching by geren….smith is going to be 2-4 with a 2.80 era
I'm sick and tired of people blaming Geren for keeping pitchers in for too long. It doesn't excuse the fact that Emil Brown and the rest of the A's offense blew the game! ENOUGH!

Geren gets 50 percent of the blame. It still should be 1-0
Geren does leave them in too long and that is why people complain
They aren't if the ball elevates
I’m telling you, sitting in the left field seats, I’ve lost track of several balls that get hit low…

How about excessive swearing and wishing death upon members of baseball teams (and their relatives)?
It's the internet. If swearing bothers you, I dunno what to tell you.
Wishing death is probably a little much, though.

Lots of roller coaster talk on here
Fans hate Ryan Sweeney, he has a nice week highlighted by a 3-run bomb, now they love Ryan Sweeney. The fans love Emil Brown and his clutch hitting, he has a bad stretch, now the fans hate Emil Brown. Baseball is a long season. There are ups and downs. Overreacting to one game, one week of games, even one month of games is a little ridiculous.
President and CEO of the Ryan Sweeney Apologists Consortium
isn't that the point of being a fan?
the part fun, part frustration of going on a total mood swing over players over the season? all I can say is, at least fans aren’t running the club, or else shit would get real bad. At least the people at the top seem to know what their doing. And bickering is fun!

I am sarcastically amused by the fact that while the A’s have the worst Pythagorean-to-actual W/L in the league, the Angels, naturally, have the best.

Poor Greg Smith.
This offense isn’t getting better without changes.
What about Barry?
"Barry who?" Forst said, and I felt like I was in the middle of a knock-knock joke.
I can't believe Smith gets the Loss.
Horrible. This is why pitchers shouldn’t even have W/L records.
Can't get lower than this.
Smith pitched his butt off. You can’t keep wasting great pitching performances.

Why does Sweeney finally decide to run with 2 strikes on Bowen??
He should’ve attempted to steal with Barton up … it’s one thing to struggle at the plate … it’s another to just sit there and think things are going to change. They’re not. You have to try and manufacture a run at that point. Horrible, horrible team right now.
I needed a team so I wouldn’t turn into one of the eighty million pink hat-wearing Bud Light-drinking mulleted idiots at Fenway.

Were on the verge of getting swept by the Rays
the Red Sox are coming to town, and we have interleague games against the Diamondbacks and the Marlins.
I hope we can stop the bleeding soon. Can it hurt our guys to get a few more hits on an errorless game?

My sacrafice
I have decided to save the A’s by picking up as many pitchers as I can that will be pitching against the A’s on for my fantasy team that night.
After being picked up by my fantasy teams, they will do as others before them and give up 7 runs in 3.2 innings.
I'm using MLB.com's 2008 Fantasy Open
And I started the Rays pitching this week.
I know it makes me a bad fan and a fair fantasy GM, but I would have rather taken the beating in the fantasy league than have the A’s get beat on consecutive nights.

Casilla to begin playing light catch in a few days
Oakland RHP Santiago Casilla, on the DL with inflammation in his throwing elbow, will begin playing light catch in a few days. “That’s really good news,” said manager Bob Geren, who initially thought the injury could be worse.
