Pictures - A's @ Angels - 5/1
There's a lot of them.
Last night's game really capped off what was a bad day. But as soon as I got to Angel Stadium, everything brightened up. Because of traffic on the 5 (thanks, Caltrans!), I wasn't able to pick up the tickets I bought on craigslist, so I just decided to get something in the nosebleeds. It was apparently college night, and anyone with a college ID got half off of the cheap seats. It was nice for about 5 innings, then I took advantage of the Angels fans leaving en masse to get closer.
My proposed improvement to Angel Stadium. There's too much red there for my taste.
Batting practice:
Who is this?
Dallas Braden has a 'fro? The things you miss living 500 miles away. I had to ask Huston to figure out who this was. I feel like I don't know half this team anymore.
Joey Devine throwing to Santiago Casilla, whom I am still tempted to call "Jairo."
Huston. One of the few I actually recognized.
Casilla:
The rock waterfall in center field.
Greg Smith can juggle, Dallas Braden is a goofball.
Braden also wears his area code (I believe?) on his shoes.
Nick Adenhart at his best.
Duke in the bullpen.
I was in the nosebleeds for most of the game (view here ), but later I snuck down:
I found this funny. Given Vlad's usual helmet stylings, shouldn't it look like this:
And the ending:

Nice photos!
Wish I could’ve made it but I was wiped from my trip earlier this week!

Pretty sure the first guy is Rob Bowen
Braden also has the area code tattooed on his stomach, which we found out from photographic evidence in Japan.
Good warmup shots, great game to be at.

Thanks
It was a lot of fun. I’m sure you’re having a blast shooting minor league games. You’ve been getting some great shots. I’d love to have a photo pass, but when I do get a media credential, it’ll probably be a press box one. I love photography, but I don’t think I’d be able to make a career out of it.

Thanks, too
I kind of lucked into it in meeting someone who’s a friend of a friend, he liked some of my work from the “normal” places a fan can only be, and I worked a few San Jose Giants games. It’s been expanding since then with me getting into more contact with other people at Scout.com, and I even had the opportunity to do the Triple-A All-Star Game last year in Albuquerque.
I’m hoping to make something more out of this at some point, but right now it’s not something I make any money doing. I get free access but I still have to get there on my own. I’m okay with that because I look at it as a great chance for me to build up a portfolio I can later use if I want to pursue it as more of a career.
It’s definitely a lot of fun, no doubt about it.

My favorite things:
Photos and more photos! Thanks for sharing.
Great photos -- especially the one where Jairo beaned your camera with the ball,
but is it really a Vlad batting helmet without pine tar and chewing tobacco spit caked onto the logo?
Green Hulk Fists
Gotta love
Dallas Braden’s velcro (?) shoes with 209 written on the back. Having grown up in the 209, I take great pride in Mr. Braden. haha.
