Blanton is not allowed to win at home and he knows this
However, he does need to keep his ERA low just to amuse the gods.

I have an entire song about that on K-Tel style album
that I bought in a JC Penny or somewhere in like 1976. It’s called “Fonzie’s Favorites” and features a many actual hit songs from the 50’s.
It also has a song entitled “IMPRESSIONIST TRACK: Aaaaay, Cool, Nerd, Sit On It”—and the part after the colon comprises the entirety of the song’s lyrics: just a (mediocre) Fonzi impersonator saying those phrases over and over again, with cheesy music and a few “la-las” sung in the background.
I will own it always.
"And Julio Franco is batting right-handed!" -- Wayne Hagin, A's radio play-by-play, mid-80s
Wow. That sounds better than "Dis-co. Dis-co Duck.
HEY. HEY. HEY.”

There's another song called "The Fonz Song"
which involves the background singers (again) singing, “Do the Fonnnnnnnnzie! C’mon do the Fonzie with me!”
It’s just awesomely awful.
"And Julio Franco is batting right-handed!" -- Wayne Hagin, A's radio play-by-play, mid-80s
No, wait, that might be the one called "The Fonzarelli Slide" I'll have to listen to the record again and get back to you

Oh my. I am listening to Dickie Goodman and Friends.
It plays clips of songs that answer several random narrations. “Fonz has been turned down by a girl. What are you gonna do, Fonz?” Cues music- Take a walk down lonely street to HeartbreakHotel. “Shirley- what are your thoughts about this situation?” Cues music- Why do fools fall in love.
It’s painfully addicting with an emphasis on the pain part.

Okay I'm back, and it's much worse than I'd remembered
I was right about “The Fonzie Song”. But “The Fonzarelli Slide” is a horrific proto-mashup with some talentless “impersonator” doing a bit where Fonzie meets the Sweathogs from “Welcome Back, Kotter” and tries to teach them to be cool—complete with 3rd rate impressions of Fonzie, Horshack, Eptsein, Mr. Kotter, and Barbarino. It’s almost impossible to believe that anyone recorded it, and impossible to believe that some producer went, “Okay, that’s good, we’ll put that on a record and release it!”
And, of course, when I was 8 or so I bought it.
"And Julio Franco is batting right-handed!" -- Wayne Hagin, A's radio play-by-play, mid-80s
I wish I could zap the song over that I'm listening to.
It’s got “musical quotes” from Laverne, Shirley and they go live from Richie Cunningham’s house too. What the hell was wrong with us back then?

it was Cust running all the way back to within 2 feet of the fence so that, when the ball hit the wall…it bounced right past him and let the run score.

Well, there ya go
Comcast is so weird. My friend in Oakland has the Fine Living Network on channel 182, which is of great interest because they’re showing the original Japanese version of Iron Chef. Here in San Leandro, 182 is an unassigned channel, but I have programming on channels 183 and up. Fortunately I’m moving to Berkeley tomorrow….

Very few parking lots in Berkeley.
You have been warned!
I've come to the conclusion that the two most important things in life are good friends and a good bullpen.
Oh, I know.
And as for the mayor—well, just watch your newspapers when he’s around.

Can we have Barton get on base this inning at least
He sure is due isn’t he?
Didn't he get on base 4 times in 4 PAs on Saturday?

That doesn't help tonight's game
Unfortunately
On the Bright Side of Things
At least the A’s did not get No-Hit by the Saux…

to be fair
it’s not the Ws/Ls for me. It’s the sucky baseball.
OK, it’s ALSO the Ws/Ls. But if I just cared about the score, I’d read it in the paper tomorrow.

Hey RAF's. You can catch Jack Cust at Macy's.

Much funnier vein to mine
than the “Jeter” + “catch” puns.

there's a joke here
because you used “Jack Cust” and “catch” in the same sentence… w/o any negatives like “missed” “lost” and “can’t.”
I've come to the conclusion that the two most important things in life are good friends and a good bullpen.
Someone better open the door for him or he'll slam right into it.

Geren doesn't argue hard enough...
he was safe, but why not get thrown out at this point in the game? It might inspire the team.

I wish there were a way to do a good study on that.
Does having the manager thrown out actually help the team? It would be nice to see real evidence.
formerly known as mdl
don't know if there's any empirical evidence to support it...
but, I always thought I (and, the team) played harder when pissed off.

my 2 1/2 year old has a better arm than Damon...
but, Damon can probably catch better.

Twins win in the 13th
with pitcher Bobby Korecky in the on-deck circle with his 1.000 average.

it's pretty cold out
Ump might have given the pitchers permission.
We're going to knock balls out of the country's park, for the home team, which is America. @('.')@

We have got to have quite a few pitchers in AAA
better than Braden. Probably quite a few still in diapers as well
Come on ump. That pitch looked good.
