Coincidence? I think not.

Yes, rarely
“Since the late 1980s, usage has become the following: in AA and AAA games, the DH is used unless both teams are farm clubs of NL teams, in which case pitchers bat. In class A or lower games, the DH is always used. Though it is officially a AAA league, the Mexican League uses a DH in all games.”

Interesting quirk to earned/unearned I recently learned
Say, for example, the A’s would’ve really beaten up on Jurrjens in the 2nd inning and Bobby Cox chose to take him out of the game before the inning ended. Obviously all of his runs were unearned, but any of the relief pitcher’s runs allowed that inning would be earned. I guess the logic is that you can forgive the pitcher for giving up more runs after the error, but if a new pitcher comes into the game he’s not getting “extra” outs.

Like I said a while back,
Brown is this year’s John Mabry. It’s too bad that he has to hurt us for a while as we “pay for past performance” until we say “Oh you really do suck.”

Most of his career after
carrying the A’s for part of 2001. Not “awful” suck, but not anyone’s answer to anything.

He really doesn't look like a good OF to me.
In just 43 games, I’ve seen him fail to pick up routine singles for errors, drop or miss flyballs he was in position to catch, and miss the cutoff man a couple of times.

For how bad our hitting is
we could at least have okay OF defense.

Geren's damned if he does, doesn't
Put Sweeney/Buck/just about anyone else in right, the fans bitch about the offense. Leave Brown and his semblance of offense in right, fans bitch about the defense. There’s no complete player to be playing those corner spots right now.

that maybe be the third time this year he has whiffed a ball near the wall. he shortened his stride cuz he was under it and then pussed out

The problem for the A's is that...
all the chickens are coming home to roost.
You can only hide your flaws so much. You can only hide your many bad hitters, your lack of power, your horrible outfield defense so much.
We aren’t doing well at hiding these problems on this trip.
On a side note that I’m sure is getting ample mention on the site: I’m guessing Emil Brown’s days as an everyday player are about to be numbered.

Rest assured, he won't drive in 150 either
He’ll just miss fly balls and cut-off men while producing a .300 OBP. Travis Buck, please report to right field.
