Details About the Move
I heard you guys might be moving your club to San Jose or a surrounding city. My mom's side of the family lives in Concord and are big A's fans. I just simply wanted to know the details about if and when you guys will be moving.
I would think that your fan base would be quite upset considering you guys have great fans. I really enjoyed watching a game in Oakland last summer. Keep up the great play this year. I hope you guys continue to do well.

it won't be, Wolff has already said Oakland won't be in the name
and really, there’s no reason for it to be.
Its pretty much a given that the name will end up being one of: San Jose Athletics at Fremont or Silicon Valley Athletics at Fremont.

Oakland not in the name?
Please provide me with some kind of evidence of this. The only thing I can find are quotes that it will be: “blank at Fremont”, or “blank of Fremont”. Please show me where I have gone wrong here, I really would like to read it because I just couldn’t find it.

He said it in an interview, which I believe is on MLB.com in their cisco field section
the one where they announced the plan, with Beane, Crowley and Seilig.

I don't recall a Lew quote that "Oakland won't be in the name,"
but it’s pretty obvious in context. He talks often about a “regional” name, he openly enjoys that the Fremont site is as close to the South Bay as one can get without dealing with the MLB/Giants territorial rights issue, and he went out of his way six months ago to say that the A’s wouldn’t stay in Oakland under any circumstances, even if Fremont falls through.
He’s played it coy about the name, for the reason that a new name-any new name-will piss off 10x more people than it attracts. But I’d bet the mortgage payment that the word “Oakland” will not be included.

Also,
to answer your question about fan reactions, it’s a mixed bag. Lots of people very disappointed they’ll be gone from Oakland, lots of people excited that they will be closer to them than they were in Oakland, and lots of people disappointed/indifferent about them leaving Oakland, but excited about a new stadium.
I fall into the latter category (disappointed leaving Oakland, but more happy for a new, still local stadium than I am disappointed).

One reason for the disappointment
is that the purported, new stadium location has really bad public transit access, unlike the Coliseum.

Im thinking the team
is gonna end up being called the San Jose A’s of Fremont. Lew Wolf has numerous connections to San Jose, and the fact that he owns the MLS team the San Jose Quakes (and they are building a new stadium for the above mentioned team) makes the name more likely. Kinda like how the Angels have used the LAA of A to move “into” LA, while not playing there, I think calling the A’s the San Jose Athletics can make the team seem like they are from there, even though they don’t own the rights to physically play there.

I understand that the stadium will physically be in Fremont
but why in the hell do we need to put Fremont in the name at all?! I mean, c’mon! FREMONT?! It’s not like they were the Golden State Warriors of Oakland. Just name them after the region in which they reside, or a nearby city that people have actually heard of! But Fremont?! C’mon!

How much money is being put up by the City of Fremont?
I agree, it’s silly and unnecessary, but I also remember Santa Clara wanting the Giants to be renamed to the Santa Clara Giants if they had built a stadium for them. It used to be that the best a suburb could hope to get was revenue and a newspaper byline. Times have changed.
Some read stats. Others actually watch the game.

Fremont, while not paying for any part of the stadium ...
will likely be asked to pay for a number of infrastructural investments, perhaps give some tax considerations, etc …
They will want their name included in return … since it costs the team nothing, they’ll be happy to do it …

Why not the California Athletics?
Certainly the Angels can no longer lay any claim to using “California.”
Or how about the Californ-I-A’s?
