"power search"?
That’s why it comes up with no results for the A’s.

prepping for celebratory postgame spread
Just put the sourdough bread in the oven. Looks like it’ll be a good batch. Cook’s Illusrtated’s “no-knead” recipe, plus my homemade starter.

I gave sourdough baking a whirl last summer (i'd never baked bread)
0-3. The third try was semi-edible. I’m giving it another shot in a few weeks.
The A's colors are green and gold.
I always "cheat"
I add a T of yeast, no matter how promising the starter is.
I’ve finally discovered the secret of bread baking: don’t be afraid to make the dough too wet. Excess flour is what kills bread.
And I can’t recommend this Cook’s Illustrated recipe highly enough: you basically let the dough sit for 18-24 hours, and hardly have to knead it at all. And you cook it in … a dutch oven. Comes out perfect every time.

good tips there
I would definitely take a way-too-puffed-up loaf with bubbles and all at this point.
The A's colors are green and gold.
(I don't know what a Dutch oven is, and presumably I don't have one)
The A's colors are green and gold.
deep, broad, heavy pan with heavy lid
The keys are that it should be enameled cast iron, and that the lid should fit snugly enough to provide a steam-tight seal. It amazingly duplicates the steam atmosphere of a professional baker’s oven.

In the bottom of the 9'th
Embree comes back up, or Street comes out?
by As Fan in the Bronx on May 11, 2008 3:14 PM PDT reply actions
Street comes in in the 9th
no doubt about it.
James Street, Huston Street’s father, still a legend in Texas, as the QB who led Texas to a national title.
Strangers still come up to James Street and shake his hand.

Now that it is 10-6, no Street probably
and, they could score more.
Lotsa double-digit games for the A’s this year…five so far.

I have taken the excellent suggestion of linking the rebus to the new thread, which I think is a good compromise.

Those runs are necessary, my friend.

Okay, I concede
to your “necessary”...though this ain’t the team of I. Rodriguez, Gonzales, and A. Rodriquez.
However, the A’s needed that dinger MORE when they lost a four times to Texas in the last nine days. That is all I was getting hysterical about! *8^D

Emil Brown
Is there anybody here that still honestly believes that the Emil Brown signing was bad. He’s a bargain run producer and now he is showing some defense with outfield assists. If he stays healthy and Bob keeps him in the lineup he will end up with 85-90 RBI. I’ll ask everyone to scour through the rest of the leauge to find a veteran 90 rbi producer for 1.4 million. Another great signing by BB. Seeing what many others don’t, including many of the people who blog here. I know the Big Hurt is menacing in the middle of the lineup, but I would like to M. Sweeney get more AB’s, this guy has always been able to hit when healthy, and he’s showing it again this year.
I will officially concede that I was wrong about the Emil signing
I still think that he’s not really any good on his own as a ballplayer (even w/all the RBIs and today’s HR, he’s only OPSing .700, and he’s only acceptable as a corner OF defender in comparison to Cust)), but a free-swinging high-contact guy is useful and productive in the middle of Beane’s high-OBP/low-SLG lineup.
