30 games already? Really? Wasn't it just yesterday we were acting like insomniacs, rooting on our A's as they played in Japan? Sure seems like it.
With a surprising 17-12 March and April behind them, the A's start their May play this evening against their rival LA Angels, looking to gain a split of the four-game series. True to form, after drubbing the Angels on Monday in a 14-2 romp, the A's bats have fallen silent, scoring only one run over the last two nights. Given the team's May records over the last few years, we're hoping this is not a sign of things to come...
To leave town with a victory, the A's are sending Justin Duchscherer to the mound with a 1-1 record and a sporty 2.70 ERA, to take on righty Nick Adenhart, who was called up from the Angels' AAA Salt Lake affiliate, after starting the minor league campaign with a 4-0 record and an 0.87 ERA. Tonight's game is Adenhart's major league debut. No pressure, rookie!
