Combined No-No for Italiano
Only a 7 inning game but good signs from him considering the injury he sustained.
He went only 5.2 innings no hits no walks and 9 K's. Gotta be happy with the outlook of all our young pitching. If even one of our homegrown pitchers pans out that would just be the icing on the cake.
On a side note Ryan Webb is clocking in at 94-96mph(89-91mph before) and is looking really good.

good for him and us
he also had seven straight K's during one stretch in the game.
And good for Webb too, I saw several times when he was with Stockton. He always rattled easily and clearly was not getting all he could from his body (realxed muscles instead of tense muslces).

and no walks or errors
Too bad about that HBP by Italiano, otherwise that's a perfect (short) game.

It wasn't going to be a true 9-inning no-hitter anyway...
and we're talking about a guy who just spent most of the last two seasons injured.
FWIW, personally, I'm a lot more impressed by the 9 Ks than the 0 hits. Particularly in the low minors, what is and isn't a hit is really, really random. 9 Ks tells me he's dominating hitters, which is indicative of an ability to succeed at higher levels. Hopefully he'll be ready for the call to Stockton once the first of the Fab Five moves on to Midland.

Not just 9K's
But he managed to do it with no walks which is what I find very encouraging. We always knew he could throw hard and get batters to swing and miss, but if he can keep it in and around the zone while missing bats that would be a great sign.
