Let them know

fitzandbrooks@knbr.com, razorandmrt@knbr.com, lee.hammer@cumulus.com, murphandmac@knbr.com

The more letters we send, the more they have to talk about the A's. It has to start somewhere, why not here and now? Here is a copy of a letter I sent today to KNBR.

Please let them know, we want to hear more A's talk.....

OK,

I know that KNBR has contract with the Giants, which must be a huge contract, but just like it’s time to send Barry Zito and his 126 million dollar contract to Fresno, it’s time to start talking about the first place A’s.

The Romans ultimately found the slaughtering in the coliseum inhuman; we too are finding the perpetual losing of the Giants inhuman. Turning into 680 now, is like walking into a hospital’s nursery who has run out of formula days ago whanna, whanna.

Please stop the bleeding, break out the binoculars look across the bay. “Oh my! What’s this we see a first place team with a great future, hey I don’t see one laptop or cell phone, hey Brian do you know at the coliseum they actually watch the team play.”

Don’t be the guy who signs a below avg. pitcher to the highest contract ever, opps, sorry.  What I mean is, stay ahead of the curve, a new stadium, a good team, incredible future, great true fan base and in two years the World Series will come through Oakland, okay, okay through Fremont.

Don’t be the guy who sold the last place Giants a contract for ten years when you have a World Series competitor for years to come just miles away.

Make a clean break, here is an outline that can answer all the Giant’s callers questions for the rest of the year.

1)   No, Zito does not know what the pitchers mound looks like in the fifth inning.

2)   Yes, a 126 million dollars goes a LONG way in Fresno

 3)   Yes, Molina can get thrown out at first on a base hit to right field and can make a hit into triples alley a close play at second

4)    Yes, Both Cain or Linchcum can win Cy young’s

5)  No, Unfortunately it won’t be until after they leave the Giants, Cy Young say’s      5-12 2.30 ERA doesn’t cut it.

Seriously, I do know KNBR has a contract with the Giants, but if Drano gave you a contract to sell baby formula would try and sell that too?

Year after year the A’s make the playoffs or contend until the last month of the season. Unfortunately, the only thing that gets broadcasted is the 5 consecutive losing seasons of the Giants. The only reason I still tune in is to hear the occasional “Go Sharks.”

In all seriousness; You do have a great station, I love all the shows equally and have listened everyday for years now, yes even in February. You have a great young fun team in first place miles away, just something to consider.

Hahaha sorry

More time for are A’s on the Radio, hopefully leading to more games shown down the line.
Maybe we can get some A’s guest on 680. I would even talk a 45 min sounding board on anyone of the KNBR shows.

this was just

A copy of the letter I sent KNBR.

STAY TUNED

I have some friends in radio who are tired of seeing the A’s playing second fiddle to a far inferior team. They have a platform and the ability to do something about it. Look for more news around the time The Sharks (hint) season ends, which will hopefully be later than sooner.

Excellent

I’ve been sitting here all day (biting my nails, swigging Pepto-Bismol, anxiously drumming my fingers on the desk) fretting that I wouldn’t be treated to another awesome fanpost decrying A’s TV and radio coverage.

So this is, to put it mildly, a relief.

Would you mind posting another one tomorrow, relatively early in the morning (7:00 or so would be great), so I don’t have to sweat it out again? Thanks in advance.

So basically you're

asking for special treatment.

I prefer the afternoon, where there is still a hint of suspense in the air.

Then again, I like watching Street in the 9th.

Well, yes.

I might even go further. What we really need, in order to accord this critical topic the focus it requires, is a recurring front page feature.

We have an exciting stable of new writers who I’m certain would be delighted to take on the challenge, and look, it’s about time someone stood up to the high-minded, fact-heavy, over-written, hyper-intellectualized, frappuchino-sipping, turtleneck-wearing, Prius-driving, iPod-enabled-stroller-pushing, Simpsons-quoting, townhouse-dwelling, Whole Foods-shopping, content-valuing, know-it-all AN establishment.

They think they’re so smart. Well screw them. Give me a redundant four sentence offering with either too much or too little punctuation any time. Or a cut-and-pasted email (the less coherent the better). Slap on a strident and/or ominous-but-vague title (“take a stand!”, or “you know who you are”, or “why the eagle flies one-winged”), and that’s all you need. To be honest, I don’t know why you bother with all those, those … those words in your posts. I’m trying to drive, text, chew Ritalin, watch CNBC, and play Grand Theft Auto 4 all at once – how am I supposed to absorb, like, whole paragraphs into that dynamic? It’s impossible. So I say to you: Give up the goat. “Writing” is passe. Make it short, make it pointless, make it loud.

I'll try...

“67MARQUEZ to give up the goat??!!”

Yes, they’re all yours, Nico.

good thing you bit your nails before drumming your fingers on the desk

And what did we do once we discovered a rift in the fourth dimension? We launched a monkey into it. @('.')@

I was biting the nails on my left hand, frantically tapping the desk with my right hand, and slurping Pepto-Bismol from one of those drinking tube cupholder hats.

Quite a sight, I assure you.

Can Oakland fans afford radios?

I like the comments about the Romans because it’s true (this is OAKLAND!). Im stationed in Connecticut and cant afford MLB channels on Navy pay and am not home enough to listen via web. WWDD? What Would Dennis (or Dave) Do?

p.s.

I don’t listen to KNBR, so NO, I won’t be emailing those ass bags..

So, I accidentally had KNBR on this morning

Whoever is the morning guy mentioned that they’d been getting email saying that they weren’t talking about the A’s enough.

The response was in 2 parts

1 – Well, we’re the Giants flagship, what do you expect.

2 – You’re right, we’re not talking about the A’s enough.

Then he proceeded to say that they were in first, and oh hey they actually had the best record in the AL, and nobody expected it and they always have competitive team. Crap, what else, oh he mentioned that they’re getting contributions from guys nobody has heard of and specifically mentioned Eveland and Smith—then in the NEXT SENTENCE was talking about how some of the guys from the Haren and Swisher trades were getting ready to contribute.

I chuckled.
