Second class citizens
I for one am tired of the incompetence of Ken Priess and his whole department of Media and Communications. There is no reason for the lack of radio and tv coverage of the A's. It is time for the Fans to let Mike Crowley and Lew Wolff know that we are tired of this BS. The A's radio coverage is less than weak. If you are in the Sacramento Valley, you get butkus. If you don't have Comcast, you get the Giants. In Solano County the radio coverage stinks. I love my A's and I am tired of being dissed. I will be sending a letter to the A's letting them know about their incompetence. Please join me and pull a JERICHO NUTS camapign.

I thought that was FrankTV

Yes, BUT
At least we got 7 more episodes and SCI-FI may pick it up. It’s better than we get from the A’s.

Ooops
I meant Bupkis, but considering how we are treated, it feels like being hit by butkis.

And yes, the coverage is worse than usual this year
No TV for a Sunday game? WTF?

Just once
I would like to hear “home of the Oakland A’s flag ship station.”
Really? How many people know 1550 is even on there radio dial?

Livermore to Pittsburg
Has horrible reception, too.
At night there’s so much static it’s unlistenable.

HELLO, SACRAMENTO VALLEY!!

One of the issues is that the Giants switched their OTA coverage from Ch. 2 to Ch. 11 this year, and 11 is carrying many less games than 2 ever did. This forces more Giants games onto Comcast, and that tends to shove the A’s aside, since, you know, the Giants have a significant (though not majority) ownership interest in Comcast Sports Net.
I’m not sure exactly when the A’s contracts with FSN/Comcast and KICU 36 expire…but, boy oh boy, they need to do a serious re-evaluation of their television coverage. There aren’t many teams left that don’t get every game on TV anymore, but the A’s are one of them.
The radio issue has been going on forever and seems pretty much hopeless. All I can say about that is, get XM if you want to hear the A’s on radio (though you will hear the home team’s announcers when the A’s are on the road).

They just renewed the TV contracts last offseason
We can look forward to many additional years of suck-tacular TV coverage to come.

Is anyone going to give us a email or address to contact or are we gonna
bitch and moan amongst fellow fans who all agree that the A’s have to get their act together in the marketing/tv/radio/etc department?
I’ve looked on the periphery, but haven’t found anything. Anyone out there? I’m more than willing to write, but tell me where to go.

my biggest complaints
are the lack of coverage on sportsradio. when i listen to sports radio, of course its all giants. why not podcast some a’s coverage on the podcast radio station?
anyways, i get 1550 AM just fine in Solano County, and I also get 106.9, which is comendable. Even the Giants aren’t on FM, and FM sounds so much better!

p.s.
it’s sad…i like listening to Fitz and Brooks and I like listening to the Razor and Mr. T but it’s like they are on orders to pretend the A’s don’t exist (well they probably are…). It’s just pathetic.
I think we’ll just have to wait til 2012—Cisco will really change the Bay Area baseball landscape.

Address:
Send comments to: Mike Crowley, 7000 Coliseum Way; Oakland, CA 94621 and cc; Lew Wolff and Ken Priess. As a Side note to the Giants purchase of 30% of CSNBA, the Warriors have filed suit regarding the preference to the Giants. Mike Crowley need to walk over and talk to Bob Rowell about this BS.

Speaking of radio
I noticed today that the sound quality of the postgame show (not Extra Innings, but the Ken, Ray, and Vince wrapup) was really lousy. It sounded like they had switched from whatever they were using for the live game (ISDN? satellite?) to some very low-quality stream. Has anyone else noticed this?

The A's aren't to blame
you have to realize that the TV and radio coverage is a negotiation process. The A’s would love to have every game com in crystal clear both via radio and TV, but the realitly is that radio & TV content is discretionary per the network. The A’s basically sell these games to the networks for broadcast and if the networks don’t want to buy certain games then that is up to them. There’s only so much the A’s can do.
