Gammons on offseason trades
from Gammons' blog on espn.com
'By the way, as of Saturday morning, the A's were tied with the Angels for the best record in the American League and had the best run differential at plus-28 (the White Sox were plus-27). For those who thought Beane quit by trading Dan Haren at his peak value period, Dana Eveland and Greg Smith are 5-1, Brett Anderson is 3-1, 2.66 in the Cal League, Chris Carter has six homers and Carlos Gonzalez has a .930 OPS in the Pacific Coast League. Then they have Gio Gonzalez, with a 2.50 ERA in the Pacific Coast League, Joey Devine hasn't allowed a run and is up to 96-97 mph, and soon they will be fast-tracking RHPs Henry Rodriguez and former North Carolina closer Andrew Carignan, both of whom are already in Double-A. Remember, when Beane traded Haren, Nick Swisher and Mark Kotsay, he said, "To rebuild, we don't just need good players; we need a lot of good players." He got them.'

Q.O.T.M. as Q.O.T.Y?
boring Q.O.T.Y.!!!

not surprising
gammons has pretty consistently been a big fan of beane and oakland. if the kids keep playing as they have, those trades will be phenomenal.

Nice..
I like Gammons and respect his baseball knowledge. He has always seemed to respect Beane and A’s babseball.
And Crosby
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
I remember like 4 years ago--
All he could talk about was how good Jairo Garcia, Joey Devine, and Jack Cust were.
Jeremy was safe. He jumped over the tag.
Carignan to AA?
Good for him. It looks like the A’s bullpen will have strength in numbers for years to come, with Casilla, Brown and Devine all around for the long haul and reinforcements on the way.
It’s a great luxury to have, as it means the team won’t need to convert starters to the ‘pen and lose upside in the process.

Ehhh
I have a feeling Carignan will get rocked.
He doesn’t have any other pitch besides his plus fastball, and the hitters in AA and AAA aren’t going to be as overwhelmed like the A hitters are.

Who gave ESPN a membership in the OAK Cannabis Club?
I do respect Gammons a lot and he has returned in kind to Oakland over the years. I think that analysts love to see that they can judge talent just as well as the former players and come up with inventive ways to be competitive.
We all know it’s early to judge the talent we have just recieved due to the small sample size, but it’s going to be fun as hell if they stay hot.
I just hope we can say ”...and Beane strikes again!” all season long.
It's just more exciting with Billy Beane running the team.
