Lodging recommendations for Anaheim?
I'm going to San Diego at the end of the month, and since the A's will be in Anaheim that week, I'm going to make the drive up there on Thursday (May 1st) to watch the game. I have to be in Escondido for Friday night, however, and I don't want to drive back down there after the game.
Anyone have any recommendations for places near the ballpark to stay? How about places to stay away from?
There are a few near within walking distance. I would probably prefer to be able to walk. Ayers, TownePlace Suites, Hilton and Doubletree. Are those any good? Bad?
Thanks in advance!

How much are you willing to spend?
Doubletree is the team hotel and a room is around $150.
There are hotels closer to Disneyland (down Katella Ave.) that have good rates. There's an Orange County Transit line that runs on Katella that could get you around.

Regarding the transportation...
Take advantage of the rail (Metrolink/Amtrak/Sprinter/Coaster) situation getting to/fro San Diego and Anaheim. Metrolink/Amtrak stops in the stadium parking lot, which is always a plus.

If you don't have transpo form the Anaheim Amtrack Station
the cabs are ungodly ripoffs and there is nothing nearby to walk to.
And they don't allow luggage in the stadium.

The Hilton is nice.
We used priceline and paid $75 for a suite. You can probably come close to that deal since its not peak season yet for Disneyland.

Ayers
a little pricier, but a great hotel close to the ballpark and free full breakfast.

AYERS
Ayers Inn is worth the extra dough.
There is an ANAHEIM Ayers a half-block from the stadium BUT there is an Ayers a half-mile from the stadium (in the city of Orange) that is always at least 20-40 bucks cheaper and has vacancies closer to the travel date. You can still walk to the park from it and it is also close to the big BLOCK OF ORANGE mall if you are into malls.
I live in South Central LA and stay in a hotel near the stadium 2 or 3 homestands a season.

If you're just looking for a bed
The Motel 6 in Orange is a stone's throw away from Angel Stadium and the neighborhood isn't exactly East LA.

"stone's throw"
That expression always disturbs me. Who's throwing the stone? If I'm throwing the stone, okay, that's a nice walkable distance. If, say, Vlad's throwing the stone... you might need a cab.

Thanks everyone!
I booked a room at the Doubletree. I'm looking forward to watching the A's play somewhere other than the Bay Area.
I've seen the Yankees play in Seattle and the Diamondbacks play in San Diego, but never have I seen my home team play anywhere else. Except San Francisco. But that doesn't really count.
