Open Game Thread: Game 15 - A's at Chicago (cont)
Dana Eveland couldn't quite complete five today, never really feeling comfortable on the mound. Despite White Sox runners all over the bases, he was only really touched by one pitch; which resulted in a 3-run homerun, the difference in the game; the other run was courtesy of the A's at-least-an-error-a-day circus infield. Devine has come in to try to steady the ship, but the A's need some runs.
The A's offense has yet to pose any real threat today, so here's the new thread mojo they so desperately need.
We're going to the sixth, White Sox 4, Athletics 0.

WE DO NOT PLATOON THREADS!!!
It is a mere coincidence that we start them when we need a spark.

Offense pretty anemic.
Several guys slumping.
Defense shaky enough to be annoying.
Neither has helped our pitching have much margin for error lately.
Yet somehow we’re still tied for first place (assuming we lose and Halos win today).
Could be worse. And we’re going home to get payback on Seattle. (Isn’t it every even year we beat up on them?)

Yeah they were
And really, Eveland came undone by wildness, not really by Sox hitting.
I’m wondering if Eveland is hurt. He was waving his arm strangely in his last start and I saw him doing it again when he got particularly wild.

This whole ex-Royals lineup against lefties needs to be scrapped
We’ve really only hit Sabathia and 1/2 of Lester well so far.
Prince: This bores me. Is anyone up for a game of basketball?
It is funny how people forget, that until yesterday the A's were averaging over 8 runs a game
for the past 7 games.
by theblackpearl on Apr 15, 2008 1:32 PM PDT up reply actions
In the entire month of April, except for Sabathia, we've only scored 4 runs in 5 games off lefty starters
I didn’t forget anything, we’ve been bad against left handed pitching all year.
Prince: This bores me. Is anyone up for a game of basketball?
I was watching the Rangers game on mlb tv
And I just noticed what a bad team they are. It made me thing of 2 questions. 1 do you guys thing that Ron Washington will get fired if they have another bad season? And 2 if he does and I don’t think it would be fair if he did but if he does do you see him comming back to the A’s?
I wouldn't be surprised if he got fired
But I would be surprised if he came back to the A’s.
Geren fired longtime coaches this past year to bring in his own guys.
