Actually, checked on DVR...
From their replay angle, which was down the first base line from home plate, it looks like it leans toward home. But checking the replay of the live play (from behind the mound), his front leg definitively goes to first.

My fears were reasonable
Embree is normally a 1 pitch pitcher, and a fastball is about the only thing Thome can hit this year. Embree isn't one of those funky lefties who is used as a LOOGY, either.
Great job by Embree and Suzuki to not throw Thome anything hard and/or straight.
