Musical Interlude: Your 2008 Athletics: Kings of the Road
In honor of the A's 4-0 road record to start 2008...
Players for sale
or rent
Team rebuilds, gets prospects
No Danny, Kots, or
Nick
We sure miss ol' Scooter's hits
Ah, but three weeks in the
desert groom
Some new kids who might be true
We're a team of
means by no means
Kings of the road
Third boxscore, late
night plane
Destination: Cleveland games
Can you hear those
road fan boos?
Against CC we can't lose!
We smoke 9 runs and
bat around
Then the crowd don't make a sound
We're a team of
means by no means
Kings of the road
We get every clutch out
in every game
All of the starters, tossing good frames
Our
offense can score runs and we have found
that even Bobby Crosby is
coming around
Players for sale or rent
Team rebuilds, gets
prospects
No Danny, Kots, or Nick
We sure miss ol' Scooter's
hits
Ah, but three weeks in the desert groom
Some new kids who
might be true
We're a team of means by no means
Kings of the
road
[In the video, this song starts at about 3:15, before that is some banter between Roger and Johnny that I found entertaining]

that was a cool song
I hadn't heard it before, thanks!
Look out Cleveland, indeed
The glare was not practiced. I would get into the game situations, and when that happens, there comes a level of concentration that most can only imagine but can never achieve. You become what you are doing, and that is what you see on my face. -Dave Stewart

Excellent
I think "team rebuilds, gets prospects" is a little labored, but can't think of a better alternative at the moment.
Wouldn't it be nice if two hours of pushing broom bought people a place to sleep today?

Thanks
the first two lines were actually the hardest for me to find a good fit for.

Good job!
Unfortunately, that song happens to be a serious earworm for me, but I enjoyed your lyrical adaptation... :)
"Huston, you're hot!'' said first baseman Dan Johnson, dressed as a bottle of mustard.

Bravo!
This is the kind of thing that helps me connect with the new team. Thanks for the entertainment.

Enjoyed it!
But only because we won the next road game, too.
Otherwise I would have called you a jinx :)
I'm here to talk about the past.
