DLD 3/27/08 Links and Pictures and Bonds, Go A's!
Two final slaps for the A's on Wednesday after being an afterthought to the Red Sox all week: The ceremonial first pitch was thrown out by Ryo Ishikawa, a teenage Japanese golfer wearing a Red Sox jersey - and because the A's were the home team, Oakland catcher Rob Bowen had to run out and catch the pitch.
Harden!
Giants h8 Bonds. This article is about how they removed all the Bonds stuff from the Booth (now in a truck heading across the bridge?????):
I asked team president Peter Magowan if management considered some kind of visible tribute to Bonds and his record. "No," Magowan said, eloquently.

"find Iguana"
Worth linking again: DeadSpin contributor Pat Jordan's merciless -- and hilarious -- account of the entirely un-Dykstra-like endgame of Jose Canseco.
It's as if the Coen Bros. directed Scarface.

but he sure is way funnier on the way down.

for my money, you can't beat Jack Oakie
I just saw Oakie in Thieves Highway -- which is not a great movie (not even really a very good one), but has FANTASTIC location shots of the old SF waterfront (what's now the ad ghetto, near Levi Strauss Plaza). There's one shot where you can see the signage for the back loading dock of the old original Busvan for Bargains store, right where it was up until it closed a couple years ago.

Bref tip:
Noted hero mikeA got them to change the spelling from "Carlos Gonzales" to "Carlos Gonzalez" about a month ago, but if you want to look him up there, the way to go is to type in "Gonzales".

In other news....
Zito pitched against the Giants AAA affiliate in Fresno....and lost. Not only him, but the entire team. SF would do better to swap uniforms and take the Grizzlies back to ATT.
I work in downtown Fresno, so it was fun to mock the Giant fans. I invited them to come to the roof of the building and collect the long balls that Zito gave up.

So bobblehead #3 is Dick Williams?
Color me underwhelmed with this choice. How you have a prominent former player who sported a handlebar moustache and not slot him in for a bobblehead is totally bizarre to me.

well, the first commenter was technically correct ...
... and TT way overreacted. What's more, and it's a shrinkingly minor point, TT used a pretty inconsistent appellation scheme in his list.
While I'm at it, (a) he should have known what numbskulls the HH'ers are and been prepared for it, (b) especially at that blog, his contextless "put up or shut up" language is bound to get poor reactions from people who don't know him, and (c) again, for people who don't know who he is and what he does (and even for some who do), his explanation-free fanposts seem a lot like spam/trollery.
Since he's just C&P'ing anyway, would it have killed him to take 3 minutes to write a "HI! Here's who I am and why I'm posting here" intro?
