Good piece on David Forst and the A's on espn.  Here's the link.

I don't mean

to sound like a harsh diary policeman, but this is exactly the kind of post that should go into the DLD. Nice article, but it doesn't need it's own diary unless you expound upon a particular point made in the interview.

Yea I agree

This guy is notorious for writing a paragraph or less and posting it as a new fanpost. Come on Swishdball pay attention!!!!!!! DLD please!!!

Does it really matter....?

where it is put, as long as the information gets out to the masses? The end result is the same, right?

Red Sox still suck! A's in '07.

It matters.

DLDs were created to put an end to the stream of 10-word diaries fanposts that serve little purpose other than providing a link. Fanposts like this push other (hopefully) worthy fanposts, ones where the author might have spent time writing an entire essay, off the front page, where they are essentially lost to the "masses" you speak of.

The Forst interview is a good read. But the link should go in the DLD unless, as sslinger said, the author wants to examine what Forst said in depth.

The other problem is that this article already WAS discussed in the DLD, two days ago.

Not sure how to avoid that in the current state of AN, but a repeat in the DLD is also preferred as a derision-avoidance strategy (in part because Nico professes not to read 'em).

Kind of crazy....

that the structure of the site has become more important than the actual content. Too bad. To be honest, even if it had been discussed two days ago, it was the first time I saw it. So thanks to Swishdball for failing to follow the structure and giving me information I didn't have before.
I hate to give up this site because I am a huge A's fan, but I can't believe what it has come to in the two or three years that i have been part of it.
Reminds me of intolerant religious fanatics.
Thanks but I'll pass.

Red Sox still suck! A's in '08.

since you have been around AN for 2-3 years...

you should be familiar with the 300 character minimum for a new diary.
diaries are not for posting just a link, he could have easily put in a blockquote, some actual opinion / analysis, etc.

BUT
-the search function is completely broken, so if old news is posted, the fault is with new AN and not with the user.
-the 300 character minimum thing is missing from new AN, so we should expect more FaNPoStS like this one.

Cripes, man -- I was trying to be nice about it.

I guess we all get to choose which brands of pettiness irritate us.

Dont go!

come on carney, who cares if some criticize. Just blow them off. It is all just opinion based stuff, rantings and musings of A's fans, and I for one would miss ya. We are a ragtag band of misfits....like the A's of lore.

Dude

This site has been pretty much exactly the same for the past 2 or 3 years. I joined AN in 2004, and altho the format is a little different, the content has only changed for the better. You have to remember that we are in spring training, and that means that we just got out of the off season. AN is always a little bit slow in the off season, thats why its a awesome that we have new features like Staturdays during the down time. Nobody is an intolerant athletics religious fanatic, we just have alot of pride in our AN, and want to keep up to a standard of quality...

As an intolerant religious fanatic

(albeit a "devout atheist") I am highly offended by Carney4ever's comment and hope, quite honestly, that he burns for all eternity in a fiery...er, collection of molecules expanding infinitely.
