Time to pay the piper
Read all about it here
Barry Bonds remains unsigned, a pariah. A pathetic monument on the baseball landscape. Are you surprised that NO ONE has even had him into camp? Lots of other guys have been accused and/or admitted to using HGH and Steroids, and he would make a great DH for someone. Is he THAT tainted that no one will even touch him?

Oh just wait a month or two
There will be a team out there, that realizes that they don't have the offense that they thought they had leaving spring training, and will take a gamble and sign Bonds, most likely an AL team. Look for Bonds to be on a major league roster by July....

I'm relieved because
it seemed like the most logical team to sign him (West Coast, American League, needs offense) was the Angels. I would not have enjoyed seeing Bonds and Vlad back-to-back in the lineup of our division rival.

SEE!
As much as we hate the guy, we still know as fans that this guy is lethal, and yet he remains unsigned. I really think his stigma has all the clubs scared to death in the wake of the Mitchell Report. To know that LaRussa wanted him and was shot down by management is telling. I think all the GM's out there just want to put some distance between Bonds and the Report. Pretty historical stuff I think. The fact that McGwire is not going to sniff the Hall anytime soon goes to show that these two are seen as the two pillars of the entire steroid era. Yes, nobody's used it as well, but these two not only used, but smashed hallowed records set by gritty players that played through pain and prejudice. These two, and now Clemens to a degree, are the embodiment of the shame baseball feels. Thus, it may be awhile before someone takes on the liability of Bonds.

Lethal is as lethal does
I personally wouldn't want the A's to invest all that much in 300 PA (just a hunch). That raises questions of just how low of a contract the reigning home run king would be willing to take, obviously. Piled on top of that is the constant press and distraction, and a notoriously foul attitude-- why burden the young guys on the A's with all that when Barry isn't exactly putting them right in the World Series hunt anyway?
I'm surprised people thought of the Angels as the logical buyer. It seems that things were jumbled enough in the OF even before Hunter arrived.
Rays should sign him
they don't have any fans to get pissed about it.

So very true
The irony of MLB's business model is, they can make plenty of money even if they lock the stadium and play to an empty house. Actual people showing up to games is a pure bonus.

the funny part is that
this isn't even really as much sarcastic as it is true.

oh you're not alone
there are a lot of A's fans who this offseason thought bonds will come to oakland and i'm sure still hope it will happen - like all 5 of them!
i liked the idea
when we still had haren and swisher. not so much now.

No way- No day.
The circus that Bond's and his legal problems would bring to any team is not worth the 20-25 home runs that this aging steroid ridden basher might bring. Barry would cost much more than he could add to the chemistry of any team.
The greenmachine
that's a pretty low projection
i guarantee he would hit 35+ if he never had to play the field, but it's pretty tough to guarantee such a thing when the guy can't get a job
