4/2 Home Game vs. Boston changed to a Day Game
The team had nothing to do with the decision, which, according to team officials was imposed by Major League Baseball at the behest of the Players Association. The Players Association argued that the Red Sox, who have a day off April 3 before playing at Toronto on April 4, need adequate time to adjust to Eastern time after a week in Japan and then a week on the West Coast. What about all the people who got tickets and made plans to attend the night game? Not only does this game time change screw over the people who bought tickets and can't make a day game because of work, it also screws over even more A's fans because the game will not be televised on TV!
Typically, games against the Red Sox are near sellouts. The team has no plans to exchange tickets for fans who already have purchased seats, but who might not be able to make a day game. "We haven't had any calls today," Crowley said. "We're hoping that by getting the information out quickly, people can make alternate plans if they need to."Why didn't the Players Association and the Red Sox voice their concerns about adjusting to the time change when they were asked to play in Japan and when the 2008 schedules came out? I am NOT a happy A's fan right now.

Shocking
Shocking lack of sympathy for the red sox on your part. You could find yourself on the espn version of 60 minutes if you don't change attitude quick!

How sad.
How very, very sad.

What a joke.
Seriously. It's a total joke.
I'd like to see ANYBODY try to say that MLB doesn't absolutely f*cking cater to the Sox and Yanks.
Absolute bullshit.

The team should at least offer to let people post tickets for free
on their ticket exchange website, so that people who can't make the game can get their money back.
Seems like the least they could do.

Hey,
if anyone who can't make this game, please let me know. I'll buy your ticket from you.

One thing I don't understand
about baseball scheduling is: Why is it that, when a team has an off day during a road trip, they fly out of the previous city late at night, immediately after their last game there, instead of on the off day?
In this case, apparently the Red Sox would have played the game in Oakland on Wednesday night, would have headed directly from the Coliseum to the airport, and would have arrived in Toronto at something like 8 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Why not spend Wednesday night at their hotel in San Francisco, head out to the airport around 10 a.m. and arrive in Toronto at maybe 7 or 8 p.m. Thursday evening? The game in Toronto is not until 7:15 Friday night.
Nobody ever uses a "travel day" to actually do their traveling anymore. This is especially noticeable in postseason.

No TV at all?
I'm pretty sure NRAFs will get the game if they have EI. Red Sox games are always on TV.

NESN is scheduled to have it...
...so yeah.

It's not that it's a day game...
...but it should've been a day game all along. The schedule was delayed while they confirmed the Japan trip, they had plenty of time to hash out the start time for the game on April 2 at that point.

What will the bleachers chant?
"MEL-a-TON=in"?
Or just "Hey Manny! Manny! Manny! What time is it?"

WELL We are getting screwed...

crap
Well no REAL reason to be pissed... it's not like our blessed "win expectancy" has changed in this game, right PT?
It's so great to be a little small market team that gets pushed around by everybody... thanks for the extra BS MLB.

Be fair ...
there's a big difference between scheduling a game, selling tickets and then rescheduling the game without giving exchanges or refunds than only giving A's fans 79 home games v 81 for everyone else.
I've gotta be honest -- 79 is enough for me. Heck, at my best, I never went to more than about 40 in a season. I probably won't get to more than 10 this year, regardless ...

I'm pissed because though
I would not have attended the game, I absolutely would have watched it on TV. Now I'm faced with the reality that I will see exactly one of the first four games, maybe catching bits of another on the radio and missing two entirely.
It's like they want to make sure fans aren't interested in the teams. God forbid we should actually be able to follow the A's.

Sorry for you Nico.
That does suck. I had MVP tics for that game and was going to go with two friends I haven't hung out with for awhile and was really excited to see. Now I can't go unless I take off work and I feel like I can't do that. So I am ticked off too. I did get lucky for the Japan games...at least my school is on Spring break and so I can set the alarm for 3:00 and turn on the TV. It's a little consolation.

I might be able to adjust my work schedule
but my season ticket buddy isn't sure...so we may need to exchange our tickets for another game. If we do that the last day to do so would be the Saturday before the season opens in Oakland (spring training game against Giants at the coliseum). Opening night would be too late since we have to exchange tickets at least 48 hours in advance.

I work at a school...
and I took a day off a couple of weeks ago for some doctor appointments and the students behaved so terribly that the sub quit in the middle of the day. Campus Security had to come and sit with them for the rest of the day. It was quite the fiasco...So I don't feel as if I can take off. The students that I work with are in an alternative program and are discipline problems.

you may still be able to get opening night tix
my season ticket rep said i can mail in the 4/2 tickets to exchange them and let them know what game i want instead.

I have opening night tix
I'm a season ticket holder (fielder's choice package). the rules are that if I want to exchange tickets I already have for a future game I need to do so at least 48 hours before the game that I'm trying to exchange is played.
I am already going to the coliseum on 4/1, but that would be too late to exchange my tickets for 4/2 for something later. So I'll need to go to ticket services no later than saturday March 30 (when they play the giants, the office will be open) in order to exchange them.
Having had tickets get lost in the mail once, I no longer do that, unfortunately.
If my season ticket buddy can manage to attend the 4/2 game, I'll go to the game.

update: my season ticket buddy can't make it
so we're going to exchange our tickets for another game

This actually works out for me.
I was thinking of taking Wednesday off, to come down from Sac and catch the Tuesday night opener without worrying about heading back that night. Looks like I can catch two games now.
So it goes.
