Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

Complete Blasphemy

When it comes to baseball merchandise I guess that you could say, that I am somewhat of a purist. Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing a baby blue, an all black, or a (god forbid) red and white Athletics hat (It's part of that whole, I hate the Angels thing...). But what I saw today at a store in the mall, had to take the cake over all of the above listed examples. What I saw was a true to the bone, traditional Athletics hat ( The green hat, with a yellow brim that is worn with the home whites, or the road grays) but upon taking a closer look, I noticed that the hat did not have an A's logo on it, at all,  but instead it was replaced with a  Giants logo! Even worse, the hat next to it was of the same color, except that it had the logo of the L.A Dodgers!!!!!  WTF is this world coming to? Fashion is one thing, and ive heard many a young "gangsta" talk about "representing the bay", fine,  that may be their prerogative; but at what point does fashion cross the line of what is sacred??? Its been a huge pet peeve of mine for years to see people wearing Red A's hats, who upon talking to them I find out do not follow the A's at all, and in fact they know nothing about the game of baseball period. But to me, when you take a teams color's and bastardize them for the sake of fashion, then you are going to far.....

I voted for "Fire Macha now!" because I'm sort of in between and it was my way of picking without really picking. I don't care if people wear other colors outside of games. I don't personally do it, but I don't care if others do. It does bother me when people wear them to games... and don't get me started on all the pink apparel for women.

So...

how DO you feel about all that pink apparel for women? Don't you feel that the feminization of sports-related gear is necessary to attract the female audience? or do you think that it's unfair that none of the mens' apparel is made in pink?

EYETHINKITGAWDDAMMMSTINKS!

I've not talked to one person wearing a pink A's hat that will own up to having consciously purchased it:

"Oh, my boyfriend bought it!"
"It's not mine."
"Did you say, "Pink?" Is there "Pink" on my hat?"

I used to ask people wearing sweatshirts, etc., that said, "Old Navy".., "I've head that "Old Navy" spends lavishly, lots, on advertising. So, how much money are they paying you to be a personal billboard? Hunnert bucks? More?......WHAT!! YOU! PAID! THEM! to advertise their store??!!

...but the novelty wore off....

I just think it's stupid and ugly and they should make womens clothes in the actual team colors before they do all this pink crap. I have to buy youth size tshirts because they don't make adult sizes small enough. Plus it kind of goes along with how I like it when people wear team colors to games (not the blue, red, or orange A's hat and definitely not a pink jersey or something).

I think we can safely say

that I effectively got you started on the pink apparel for women...

There are exceptions

there are nuetral colors that you can use: Black and white, for example.

But not another team's colors. I hate the A's hats that look like Braves hats, for example.

But I do own a White and Royal Blue A's hat. Though in my defense, its the 1920-30's hat the A's used then, and I got it to go with the throwback philly-A's jersey I got.

by Zonis on Feb 22, 2008 8:43 PM PST reply actions

Yea throwback colors are cool

in my opinion, because it represents an era in that teams history, and that shows knowledge as a fan and celebrates tradition. I don't personally care for "neutral" colors myself, but whatever floats your boat. Although I guess black is our throwback color this year, im still not ecstatic about it. Those black uni's kind of remind me of Pittsburgh Pirate jerseys.

My son-in-law

likes the match his clothes gear. I think it looks ridiculous. We are taking all of our children on a trip to New York and have tics for a Saturday A's Yankees game. I am buying my son-in-law all new A's stuff for the trip so he doesn't annoy me with his blue A's stuff .

I'm planning the same trip

you already have tix?

I guess I better got on that...

I like the different colors.

Green and yellow looks good when a game's on, but that's about it.

by gdubb925 on Feb 23, 2008 10:13 AM PST reply actions

I think green and gold

Look a hell of a lot better than red and white, anytime of the year.

you know...

All this time I was thinking how those other colors really didn't bother me. Not my preference, but no bother. In addition, I thought the pink colors were kicked off by the Breast Cancer victims, so I certainly had no problem with that. But "SF" in green and gold? Come on now.

Thats what I was talking about

except it was in the real Green and Gold colors, like the official traditional ballcap. Even WORSE than that picture.

It used to bother me...

but now I don't mind it so much any more.

And if you're a beautiful person like I am, you should be allowed to wear whatever colors you like, because you can make anything look good. It's only the ugly people that shouldn't be allowed to wear other colors. In fact, black is the only color they should be allowed to wear, and only at night. They shouldn't be seen at all during the day.

Oh hell no

I will never ever buy the girly (pink, lavender) team stuff nor this bastardized stuff that you just brought to our attention.

I own a pink cap that was given to me for my birthday a couple of years ago. I never wear it. It was kind of a joke from the gift-giver because she wrote all over the bill, and it's autographed by Nick Swisher. Now that he's gone to another team, the hat is even special-er! Special in both good and bad ways.

by cagrrrl on Feb 25, 2008 10:46 AM PST reply actions

I'm against it..

but living here in Oslo I have to deal with a lot of Yankee hats ( and every time I see one I think of A-Rod's salary and it make me cringe ) and I gotta say that I prefer seeing that ugly NY in sissy pink than the traditional colors.
