Possibly the Greatest Highlights of All Time
ESPN has produced a 7 minutes highlight reel containing arguably the greatest moments in sports history. The A's make up 3 moments - the '89 World Series/Earthquake, Rickey Henderson holding up his record setting stolen base, and a brief glimpse of that one moment from '88 I wish I didn't have to see in every highlight reel. After watching many of these emotional scenes, I was wondering if others were emotional or excited over the same moments. So I'd like to post the link and then ask everyone to post their top three moments from the highlight reel - excluding the three containing the Oakland A's (because we all are excited for one, saddened by another, and sickened by the last). So again, I'm asking that you post your top three non-A's moments from the reel.

And I know this has been mentioned before, but WTF is a n Obama add doing on AN??? AN is supposed to be free of politics. To me thats bullshit. Its even in the community guidelines that AN posts and diaries are to be free from politics, but we have to see an Obama add on the main page? That kind of bothers me.
The ad has appeared on many SBN sites
Here's MCC talking about it:
http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/sto...
Sparknotes version: The ad is sponsored by a group who is not affiliated with Obama. Grant over at MCC said he did not know that it was a politically affiliated ad when he approved it. That probably has happened elsewhere as well.
it is very appropriate that...
that video end w/ the 3 greatest icons of sports: jordan, babe ruth and ali.
for me
I'll go with Hank Aaron's 715th, the Miracle on Ice and the Play. All taking place between by 7th and 15th birthdays. And I can remember where I was for all of them.
Such a contrast in events. Aaron's homerun was much anticipated- it was only a matter of when- but siginificant on so many levels. The Americans beating the Russians against impossible odds, the fact that they were able to keep up with the Russians was a miracle within itself. But to hold on to a one-goal lead for the last ten minutes; if ever there was a time to crack under the pressure and let reality set in, that was it. And they never wavered. The Big Game of '82 was already plenty memorable before the five-lateral relay race took place. Confusing, sloppy, arguably legal, yet so beautiful and timeless.
did i miss something?
no tom brady?
they left out the 70's A's (shocker)
so it's no surprise they'd omit The Streak, too
I bought the A's bottle opener
that has Bill King making the call. I found it one day at BevMo before he passed. I didn't realize how special that little purchase would be to me. It gives me chills every time I listen to it. RIP Bill.
many of these clips
For me, even though I didn't experience it, Bill Mazeroski's homer lifting the Bucs over the Yanks in the 1960 WS is the greatest baseball highlight of all time. The most amazing is Cal's "The Play".
Conspicuously absent: was there even one image of Barry Bonds?
one...and it was quick
and while he was with the Pirates
just like Tyson's only shot was of him in handcuffs
1989
doesn't make me sad at all ... all I think about is winning the world championship over the one team I'd most like to beat.
I loved Rickey, but the '89 series faaaaaaar outshines the SB record!!!!
Top 3 sports moments in history...
that weren't in the video.
- That guy from Greece runs a long way.
- Someone, somewhere invents golf. I've never played a round of golf in my life (mostly for fear of the addiction I know would soon follow), but if we're talking shelf-life...
- The Greatest Franchise is formed.
you mentioned '88
and I immediately tuned out. Completely. I still ****ing hate **** ******. So the question is, why did anyone else click the link? Savages.
