Fantastic News for a Great Ballplayer and Person...
"Family says doctors misdiagnosed Rocco Baldelli's condition." The Baldelli family today said that Rocco's diagnosis of mitochondrial disorder, potentially fatal, was incorrect by previous doctors. A clinic in Cleveland said that it is in fact channel-opathy, a non-progressive and highly treatable disease.
I have to say that this is just fantastic, to see what he went through and tried so hard to play last year. Baldelli is one of those few guys that I really have followed for no reason other than I just enjoyed his play. I hope that this will get him back to the level of play he was at just a couple of years ago.
And not to get all hot stove on you, but if they figure this thing out he could potentially be the free agent signing of the year. Certainly no once-was like Josh Hamilton, but with some motivation and getting the energy back he had lost, he could have a great season.

"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' Actually, don't say that, that wouldn't be very nice." -Steve Friend, Head Coach, Chabot College Gladiators Baseball
this is good to hear! I love Rocco, I of course have always been biased because here in RI we don’t produce many athletes so when we hear of one..it’s excitement and everyone follows that players career. Rocco has always seemed like a very nice guy and he has always had a ton of talent. Hopefully he can get his career and health on track and show off what a talent he is!

Best news I've heard in a LONG time!!!!
I can’t imagine the roller coaster he and his family have been on for the past few years.
Loves those little teams that can.
the great news for him and his family
is that the condition isn’t fatal and may be treatable.
The not so great news is that the term "channelopathy " has many different types of conditions under its heading, so it’s not clear which pertain to Baldelli.
Link to types of channelopathy, each with its own set of treatment (linking to a word isn’t working right now):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channelopathy
As far as his baseball career, it’s not at all clear that most of those types can be treatable to the extent that he’d be able to play a full season as a full-time player.
Very good to hear
Wow, TB is going to only get better.
He's a free agent...

Well, that's good news
I guess I should have known that…especially since it is mentioned at the end of the fanpost
Does this mean he'll be able to walk?

I'm imagining this exchange:
Rocco: Doctor, with this new diagnosis will I be able to walk?"
Doctor: “No, you’ll still need to learn to take a pitch now and again.”

he played 1 game at third base in rookie ball 8 years ago
i think weve got our third base solution!
"My group runs some frogloks down the hall to finish them off and POP! RASTER! If there was a way to scream louder than caps in EQ I was doing it. Man I am straight panicking because I know I have NO CHANCE soloing and the party has run off. I'm in my hotel room; it's like 5am, and I am straight hollering, in EQ and in real life. Bottom line is the group comes back, heals me, and kills Raster! WOOT!" -Curt Schilling on his favorite memories in the video game "EverQuest"
That's a large sample,
and he’s clearly proven he can play the position at higher levels!!!11

Good for Rocco
I always liked the way he plays. I would love to sign him to a 2-3 yr deal. If healthy I think he will hit .280+ with 20-30 bombs and SB’s. When he came up I thought he would be the second man in the 40-40 club. I love his tools. If we did sign him we could move either Sweeny or Buck + prospects for a solid young 3B/SS, (J J Hardy this means you). How would you love this line up/batting order.
1)RF Sweeny/Buck, (who ever is still here)
2)2B Ellis
3)LF Holliday
4)SS J. J. Hardy
5)DH Cust
6)CF Rocco
7)3B Chavez, (if healthy)
8)1B Barton
9)C Suzuki
This is a very solid line up and gives you a chance to sign Holliday next year. Any money you saved on not signing Furcal you could use on a FA SP, (Big Unit). Oh, and we moved BoCro to SD for prospects.
