yeah
i wonder how much his rankings will influence votes here, I bet a good bit now that we’re reaching a lot of unknown guys.
It would have been interesting to see how different the community rankings would have been if Sickles released his A’s rankings two weeks ago. I bet it would have moved Weeks and Christian a few spots up, and probably lowered Donaldson.

I disagree on Weeks
Because people here, maybe rightfully so, are anti-Weeks because they feel he’s an overdraft. Weeks is going to have to prove something to A’s fans before he gets the love, I think.

he doesn't have to prove a lot
one productive and healthy season would move him way up the list.

To Some
Isn’t that proving a lot?

i'm guessing
he would have been in the top eight if he had a good month or two instead of being injured last season, sort of what Donaldson did.

Bailey
Has pretty much had a strike out an inning at every stop in the minors. Has good stuff and has produced in the past. Struggled a bit in AA but seemed to figure it out when he moved to the bullpen. I think he is a good bet to be a solid releiver and there may still be a shot for him to go back to starting.

Hernandez, Bailey, Powell
I have no quibbles with people voting for Bailey— he’s very underrated on this list. His stuff is a major upgrade on Lansford’s.
Also, now that he’s survived Rule 5, tester for Brad Kilby.

Where do you think this Morla fellow will/should end up?
by NateHST on Dec 12, 2008 10:46 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Those are two very different questions...
Obviously he’s not going to make it into the top 30 here. Eyeballing, I think I’d have him at #33. In front of him are: everyone currently on the list except Sulentic, Powell, Hernandez, Bailey, Banwart, Rosario and Spencer.

I like Spencer.
Perhaps I shouldn’t just because of his half season at Stockton, but I do so I voted for him here.

i like spencer too
getting as far down the list as we are, spencer’s half-season in the A’s orginazition is about the most impressive thing left on here.

Bailey again
Been voting a while for Bailey. Sickels recently had him at 17th on his list.
17) Andrew Bailey, RHP, Grade C+: I still like him. Could help very soon in the bullpen
I think he might be a tad overrated on his list but he is very underrated on this list.

J.D. Pruitt
was hit by pitch 34 freaking times in 265 plate appearences in 2007. just an interesting fact
"My group runs some frogloks down the hall to finish them off and POP! RASTER! If there was a way to scream louder than caps in EQ I was doing it. Man I am straight panicking because I know I have NO CHANCE soloing and the party has run off. I'm in my hotel room; it's like 5am, and I am straight hollering, in EQ and in real life. Bottom line is the group comes back, heals me, and kills Raster! WOOT!" -Curt Schilling on his favorite memories in the video game "EverQuest"

Carlos Hernandez
I’m intrigued by Hernandez.
Although the left-hander is 21 and in “A” ball his strikeout to walk ratio is pretty good.
5-0 at Kane County with only one home run against him suggests that he could be pretty good. I assume the A’s will move him up to high A next year.

Does a Pennington supporter want to make their argument for him?

Javier Herrera
Ok,
So he is 23 and will likely not make the big leagues this year, do to the slow development over the last few year caused by injury but why no love. I can see this guy being like Ludwick, in that the A’s may note benfit from him but, in three years he will be 26 and playing for some big league team. Baseball America has him as the Best Defensive ouffielder and Best outfield arm in the A’s system. If, and it an good sized if, Herrera can get 400+ at AAA and show all those tools he has show before is he a better outfield prospect than Sulentic, Brown or any not named Cunnigham?
by dougald1 on Dec 13, 2008 11:25 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
Problem is: He's never shown those tools before
or should I say, he’s never converted those tools to performance. At all.
Then there’s the Steroid thing.
