Let's talk Huston Street
So, while Beane has made clear that at any time during any season he will make any and all players available, it seems to be a fair assumption to say that it is a very likely scenario that Huston Street will not be an Oakland Athletic by the start of the '09 season. So let's look at the possible scenarios and see where you would like to see him traded and what you think would be a most likely return (whether it be Street straight up or packaged with others):
Cleveland Indians: They have made clear that they are in on the Street sweepstakes as they will be unable to score either K-Rod or Fuentes, and I think this is the most likely destination. I for one would love to see a trade for Asdrubal Cabrera, as he seems like the great choice for ss of the future.
New York Mets: It is no secret they are in desperate need for help in relief, and it is unknown how much they are willing to spend on a free agent, so Street may be their best option. What do the Mets have that the A's want? Milledge (whoops, one year too late!). MLBTR reports the A's have interest in Heilman, but are the A's really going for more pitching, highly doubtful...
Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays: Reid Brignac? Someone else? ???
Colorado Rockies: Is this a possibility? What would we want from O'Dowd? Would this be a Holliday trade? Atkins (hope not)? Stewart? (highly doubtful now that Atkins is out the door)....
Detroit Tigers: No secret they need closing options too, so who would be a valuable return, I know some say Ordonez would look great in Green and Gold but is he really worth $15 mil plus on the end of his star years? I say no...
So, what do you guys think? Not just your preference but what do you think is the most likely destination for Street? What do you think is a legitimate return (everyone knows Beane will ask for the moon)?

we better get a young 3b soon! I don’t think BB wants to trade the kids.

I'm still hoping he can take over for Crosby
I don’t care how ridiculous the proposition is. A man can dream.
Ryan Sweeney: I probably irrationally embraced him before you did.
I know he is still young
but didn’t show me the pop with the bat I’m looking for at 3b. Might be ok up the middle but not corners.
Exactly. Not enough power so far to warrant a starting job at 3rd
Although Beane has shown that he’s willing to pass up power (Brett Wallace) for speed and on base percentage (Weeks, Sweeney, CarGon, Barton). The A’s roster (minus Cust) is chocked full of people who probably can’t hit 20 homeruns in a season, but are good at a whole bunch of other things
Mets
II could see Heilman as a secondary piece to the deal, with Daniel Murphy as a centerpiece.
This.

blah no thanks
i’ve been reading law/sheehan recent chats and his glove is horrible
thats why they are experimenting at 3b/2b/lf…at best sounds like a frank catalanatto type
heilman is neither that good or going to be expensive soon…theyve been looking to trade him for several seasons
the only appeal was him maybe switching back to sp, but he’s approaching 30 something and free agency…pass
brewers, indians, or stl atually have prospects to offer

Murph has no trouble with the glove -
The problem is that he’s a 3B, but he’s blocked by Wright, and they desperately want his bat in the lineup, so they’re trying to find some other spot for him – hence the experiments at 2B/OF. There were no “3B experiments”; that’s his natural position.
Murphy has no problem with the glove at 3B
He has glove issues at 2B.
Mets are trying to convert him to 2B, and defense is the main issue. He’s naturally a 3B, and plays decent defense there.
This.
I like Tb for Briggy
Think it makes sense for both clubs even if the A’s had to pay some of the salary.
TB has SS of the future in Beckham and Bartlett is more than capable of holding down the fort in the interim, plus he is still cheap next year and won’t be super expensive in 2010.
AsCab would also be an interesting.
Brignac hasn't improved in 3 years
I’m not real enamored of acquiring a prospect who’s stuck in neutral. He could easily— easily— be the next Crosby.
If they put in something else on top of him, I might be swayed…
Your 2008 Athletics: It's Nothing Personal.
I agree with PT on this one.
SS has to be manned by someone who is a proven commodity already or a top prospect/or/just about as close as you can come to “can’t miss” kind of guy. No more Bobblehead Crosbinos……
It depends on how much of Brignac's value is still tied up in his potential
If his value has taken a real hit because of his recent struggles then he could make an interesting pickup, but I certainly wouldn’t want him to be the centerpiece, as he is obviously far from a sure thing. I think Brignac, Talbot (I have a man-crush on Talbot) and Matt Moore could be reasonable.
by CapgrasDelusion on Nov 8, 2008 11:14 AM PST up reply actions
Brignac is a top 50 prospect
Talbot and Matt Moore wouldn’t sniff a top 100 list, so essentially he is the centerpiece of your trade, regardless of crushes !!
PT- He very easily could be the next BoCros or maybe 1 out of 2 of them “realize” that potential. Personally I would rather roll the dice w Brignac than hope for Crosby.
Brignac is a top 50 prospect?
Not in my book… like I said, he hasn’t improved in 3 years. That’s a terrible, terrible sign for a prospect. A guy who plateaus at 21 is liable to have a very short career.
The Rays really do not have a lot that I desire to obtain. Their top guys aren’t available for Street, and the rest are mostly pitchers. All the position players have major defects in their games.

Anderson, Cahill, and Wade Davis is downright scary.
If he’s offered, the A’s should take right there.
This.
I would too, but I doubt he's in play
They might be able to buy low on Jake McGee, but I have too much respect for Freidman’s skills to truly imagine he’ll give up on a guy prematurely.

The trading chip
Indians for Cabrera which may mean the A’s give up another mid prospect with it. As for the mets I don’t see a fit. I keep hearing the Holiday rumors but I only see the A’s as a third wheel in the trade. Maybe we can get 1 of the cards good 3b propects for Street and Street is sent to rockies. Or I can see the Brewers trade for Fielder and Street is one of the pieces in the trade but it will not happen until the CC free agent thing is taken care of. CC should resign with brewers because if he goes to yanks its a big mistake. CC would not handle the pressure in NY.
Who are the Cards 3B prospects besides Wallace?
If you mean Freese or Craig, they should cost a lot less than Street. They’re only slight improvements over Baisley.

What about Shin-Soo Choo?
He had a breakout season last year, and I still think the A’s could really use a corner OF bat. Perhaps Street and Sweeney for Cabrera and Choo, with a minor-leaguer added by either side to even it out?
"PECOTA can pretty much kiss my ass."-Nico
I doubt the Indians prefer Sweeney to Choo since they have Sizemore and Gutierrez.
So Street for Cabrera sounds good to me but I wouldn’t do that if I were the Indians either.

That's where the minor leaguer comes into play.
Doesn’t have to be a great one, and the A’s have an embarrassment of riches in that regard.
"PECOTA can pretty much kiss my ass."-Nico
I say Street for Alcides Escobar or some other SS prospect....pleassseeeee
I mean, unless we’re signing Furcal (and I doubt it since we’re going to have to either give him way too many years, or way too much money for our budget, or both) we are going to need a good SS or SS prospect, and they don’t exactly grow on trees. There are very few of them around, and trying to draft one is going to take some good luck and some seriously savvy drafting by Beane (which can be done, but i don’t want to wait that long). I say trade Street for a SS or a prospect SS + throw in. Of course, we could go the 3b route too…just as long as we’re filling a position of need.

From the Mets fan:
Heilman sucks, New York despises him and every Mets fan would trade him for pocket lint. If BB loves Heilman, friggin hallelujah – get this headcase OFF our hands, PLEASE. We’ll do anything to make that happen. (And if BB takes Heilman and turns him into something valuable, he’ll deserve to be knighted. I’ll officiate the ceremony).
Cerrone at Metsblog has been reporting that the Mets don’t want to offer K-Rod the 4-yr deal that he’s looking for. K-Rod’s people countered by saying K-Rod can be flexible and may accept a shorter contract. Argh, I don’t want K-Rod; the Mets have WAY too many other problems to bother sinking this much money into 1 position.
At the moment Cerrone reports that, out of the current options (K-Rod/Street/Fuentes/Putz etc) the Mets will most likely sign Fuentes. The rumors are that the Indians are the most likely trade partner for Street.
But, if the Mets WERE to attempt a trade for Street, here’s who they might pony up:
-Daniel Murphy is a natural 3B who is VERY patient at the plate and an absolute professional when it comes to the game. “Great Makeup” written all over him. Big bat; he is ripping up he AFL right now, and is projected to hit for average and be a 20-25 HR guy in the bigs. However, he’s an absolute joy to have on the team and already a huge fan favorite after playing Sept. with the big club. The Mets org adores him, and he desperately wants to stay with the Mets (has been transitioning to OF and 2B lately because he knows he’s blocked at 3B by Wright). Personally, this is the one guy that I hope is off-limits, but you never know – especially since he’s had his troubles with trying to learn a non-3B position.
-Shawn Bowman is a 3B who was profiled as follows yesterday on Gotham Baseball: “In nine AFL games, Bowman showed the promise that many Scouts called "potential in a can." At anytime this kid could explode. …. there are several major league baseball officials who like Bowman a great deal.” This is the kid that made the Mets plan to move Wright to 1B; his fielding is that good, and he can hit. But he lost the past year or so to a back injury (I don’t think you guys are gonna like hearing that phrase…). He came back at AA halfway through this year and appears to have picked up right where he left off, very impressive. I believe he had a cracked vertebra that was screwed back together, something along those lines. Anyway, he seems fantastic but the 3B position is all locked up in NY, so I imagine the Mets could deal him.
Mike Carp and Nick Evans are both big bats and considered main prospects. Evans spent a lot of time with the big club this year; Carp at AA. However, both these guys are 1B/OFs, so I don’t see that the A’s would be terribly interested.
Fernando Martinez being another big prospect, but an OF (and not panning out as quickly as we thought he would), so not a huge draw.
Personally, I would like to see Street on the Mets because I think it would be very interesting to see how he handles playing in NY. And because I would like to be able to continue to root for him. However, it doesn’t seem terribly likely… but I’ll hope.
It's weird that "many" scouts all used the phrase "potential in a can".
I agree that if Street gets traded to NY, it’ll be worth watching how he handles the situation out there.
"I'm going to take a camera crew and march into Billy Beane's office and demand to know why instituting his newfangled cost-saving measures means that the run manufacturing plant had to get shut down." FJM
Murphy is several shades of awesome and I want him.
I don’t buy the Fuentes thing one bit. They’re going after K-Rod. It’s either them or the Angels, and very sadly, the Angels are smarter.
Bowman or Murphy are my prime targets.
More Murphy love:
Per Peoria Saguaros(his AFL team) coach Jack Voigt:
"He’s a guy that’s going to go out and do what ever you ask him to do. He won’t care if he’s put behind the plate to catch as long as he’s one of those nine spots in the lineup card." The scouts agree. Three I spoke with say it’s going to be his stick that gets him into the Mets’ everyday lineup. Murphy is going to hit for average, has the potential for 20-25 home runs, and could steal 10-12 bases. His defense is going to the be the issue and Murphy recognizes the fact that he needs work.
This.
You are a smart man / Murph is miiine, go away!
If he has to be traded, though, the A’s would certainly be my first choice.
Have you ever seen him in an interview? The man is CLASS. He just impresses the hell out of me. As we say, “Daniel Murphy means business.” Interview video here.
I desperately adore him and if he tries to leave, I’m going to monkey-clasp his leg and make him drag me.
We call him D-Rex:

Very large man, tiny arms; runs like a hulking beast.

Although, if I were a Mets fan, I don’t know how much I’d trust Omar.

I wouldn't... I think the guy is overhyped crap
Your 2008 Athletics: It's Nothing Personal.
All he does is fill a good pair of jeans
He’s never done anything even remotely remarkable in a pro uniform. It took him a .350 BABIP to post a AA OPS which would barely be league-average in MLB for a corner outfielder. His MLE OPS for this season was .606— and that’s for a player with next to no defensive value!
I understand he’s been rushed crazily, but players who get rushed crazily usually suffer for it. The Mets’ approach basically consists of hoping for Hall of Fame talent and not caring if they ruin the rest of their players in the process. I think they’ve already accomplished that with Martinez.
Your 2008 Athletics: It's Nothing Personal.
Mmmm, was his BABIP really that high..
Ouuuuch. I knew he was struggling with the stick, but that bad???
I though he was a center fielder, not a corner OF. His stock really drops if he isn’t a CF. Yeah, I should probably read up on prospects more. Although a lot of it is probably scouting, he’s getting rave reviews from scouts. Not that I’ve read much, but I’d assume.
And he has had some scuzz with injuries, right?
This.
But the BABIP was only .232 on GB. You could argue he was actually somewhat unlucky there.
BABIP is mostly a red flag if a lot of GB find holes. 31 XBH in 351 AB for a 19 year old at AA is pretty impressive. The 74 K isn’t that many either for that age and level.
I’d trade a 4 year reliever for a slugging OF Top 50 overall prospect any day of the week.

was about a fair trade this past summer. And LaPorta was about a top 20 overall prospect.
They're called RUNS for a reason.
F-Mart plays center
But if he were to make it up to the big club with the Mets, he’d be moved to a corner because of Beltran. If he were traded, he could play center but could likely be moved to a corner because his defense isn’t outstanding.
How many 19 year olds even post an MLE OPS of 606?
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
Matthew Sulentic posted an MLE OPS of .613
Freddie Freeman, .624
Jason Heyward, .606

Yes.
And how highly is Jason Heyward regarded by most prospect watchers? Let me see, Kevin Goldstein just rated him as the Braves’ best prospect, a 5 star. How highly is Mike Stanton regarded by most prospect watchers?
Thank you for making my point.
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
How highly is Matt Sulentic regarded? Is he top 100, even?
How highly is Freddie Freeman regarded?
The reason I was able to pull those names out of my ass is that I know who they are. I suspect there are a number of other players who I do not know and who are not yet regarded as top 100 prospects who nevertheless posted similar or better hitting lines.
Your 2008 Athletics: It's Nothing Personal.
Freddie Freeman is rated as the Braves
5th highest prospect by Goldstein.
What Goldstein said about him
Perfect World Projection: He becomes a classic, middle-of-the-order run-producing first baseman.
Glass Half Empty: Too much size slows down his swing, and he ends up more of a one-dimensional masher.
So even in a bad case scenario, Freeman projects as a one dimensional masher.
2 out of the 4 players you listed are regarded as elite prospects. The other is regarded as a player who’s “Glass Half Empty” projection is as an MLB masher.
Maybe that should tell you something about over-relying on that MLE OPS.
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
OK
If you read that closely, there obviously has to be a significant difference between “middle-of-the-order” and “one-dimensional masher.” Chris Shelton is a one-dimensional masher, but he is not much of a baseball player at the MLB level.
Your 2008 Athletics: It's Nothing Personal.
Could work, because I think the org would give him up
They’re getting nervous that he might not be so great after all, so it might be best to move him now before he has a chance to truly confirm that he’s closer to average. Mets fans would be disappointed, because F-Mart as been the top-hyped and well-loved prospect for so long… but people understand that our need for bullpen arms is huge, and that F-Mart might not pan out.
I happen to be a Mets fan too.
Carp and Evans really aren’t “big” bats or “main” prospects. Evans profiles as a stop OF type. Carp as a stopgap 1b type.
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
that's actually probably a tad generous.
Evans profiles as a Bobby Kielty type platoon OF. Carp as a platoon 1b.
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
So Schmifty, would you say Street for Murphy
straight up, or does one side or the other, or both need to add something else?
They're called RUNS for a reason.
I'm not Schmifty, but since "closers" are bloody overhyped
I see the A’s trying to squeeze another player, even if it is a pitcher, out of them. A guy named Brad Holt if Omar is really into closing, and if not, either Heilman or Bobby Parnell.
Then flip some of that pitching depth to fill other needs.
This.
No way Brad Holt AND Daniel Murphy both get traded for Street
At least, I hope not. Yikes!!!!! The difference between Heilman/Parnell and Holt is staggering. The org is in love with Holt right now. I’d say Holt and Murph are their two favorite guys.
But you’re right that the Mets might give up too much for a closer, since they see it as a pressing issue.
Remember, they're the Mets.
And, they HAVE to make the playoffs in ’09.
Like, absolute HAVE TO. Or Omar is in hot water, even if he just got extended.
I could see a package created with the A’s giving up more just to get Murph + Holt/Wilmer Flores (Even if Holt is a pitcher, he just adds to the depth).
This.
Not going to freaking happened.
Holt was just drafted.
Secondly, yes they’re the Mets. Which means they have MONEY. MONEY to sign overpay a closer. Murphy + Holt / Flores is not going to happen.
Minaya has already said that he doesn’t want to keep doing multi prospect trades and that the team can’t afford to keep doing that.
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
UGHH. horrendous grammar.
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
Hmm...
Since Street is more established, and the Mets are hurting for a closer, and Murphy isn’t as valuable to the Mets as he could be seeing as he’d have to play a shaky 2B/OF for them, I guess the Mets would have to throw someone in. Blicks mentioned Parnell and Heilman, and I have no problem parting with either of those guys. Or even Jon Niese, really. Reliever Pedro Feliciano is also supposed to be on the block, and he’s alrightish.
I would really rather not give up Murph, dang, but on the other hand maybe it’s best for him to go somewhere where he can play 3B – it would hurt to see people ragging on him for playing a subpar 2B/OF.
Murphy and Wilmer Flores!!
The A’s could even throw in Patterson as a replacement for Castillo? Please? Pretty please?
"Loyal? I'm the most loyal player money can buy." - Don Sutton
Anything would be an upgrade from Luis “When I play 3 or 4 games in a row, maybe I can get a day off” Castillo. And yes, that is a direct quote. I remember my jaw dropping when I read it.
Pretty much!
Castillo = Pathetic bat, wants to sit on the bench for 25% of the games, good glove at 2B, BIG fat contract, and not media gold.
Murphy = Very good bat, will lie cheat and steal to get in the lineup every day, trying to learn 2B, cheap, and media GOLD.
That contract was truly inexplicable
He’s signed through 2011, right?
[scratches head in bewilderment]
Your 2008 Athletics: It's Nothing Personal.
Castillo's glove at 2B isn't what I'd consider good.
He was rated -8 runs above replacement at 2B. He sucks with the glove. His strong suit is mainly OBP, and even that’s been declining.
But yeah, Omar looks stupid for that one.
This.
Or maybe Castillo just isn't some stupid macho fool
who lies about his injuries, and hurts the team, like John “I only tell the trainers about pain when it gets too much” Maine.
Maybe Castillo realises that playing everyday isn’t going to do him, or the team any good, given how fragile he is.
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
There's still a big difference between
actually physically not being able to play and going out to the media and saying “I want a break every 3-4 games”. Take it up with the trainers. That’s what they’re for. What Maine did was wrong as well (and it has happened on the A’s too many times).
If a player CAN’T play full time (ex. Rocco Baldelli or if Castillo is determined to be unable to play full time), that’s one thing. But you play when the manager says play, unless there’s an underlying health issue, which you make clear to the staff.
This.
That quote is taken out of context
Castillo WAS ASKED BY THE MEDIA, whether he needed a day off. He then replied
Sometimes, I do. When I play three or four games in a row, maybe I can get a day off. I’m going to talk to Willie about it.
Here is some context, and the quote:
After missing three of the Mets’ first 12 games and most of Spring Training, Luis Castillo says he could use a rest. The Mets second baseman acknowledged as much on Tuesday night after playing in a game that followed an off-day.
“Sometimes, I do [need a rest],” Castillo said. "When I play three or four games in a row, maybe I can get a day off. I’m going to ask Willie [Randolph] about it
Randolph indicated Wednesday he would consult with Castillo and give him days off when needed. The manager said no formula would be used to determine a schedule.
Castillo says his surgically cleaned out right knee remains sore. He missed games April 9-11 after playing two straight days.
And
will lie cheat and steal to get in the lineup every day, t
is NOT a good thing. A player who does that is a SELFISH player.
ZIPS: Milledge: 466 HR, 485 2B, 2282 hits, 278-379-524
Patterson wouldn't be.

Maybe expand the deal
I tend to think it will take more than one good prospect to snag Street, because of his contract and the premium most teams put on “closers”. I could see BB adding a player (ie. Gaudin with Harden, Robertson with Haren) to get 4 prospects/young guys back.
I don’t know if this would thin out the BP too much but I could see Santiago Casilla being a fit. Minaya seems to like dominican players and Casilla still has a live arm which could make it easier for Minaya to dig into the system and send more players back this way.
If so, the A's should jump on it IMO
Casilla has a good arm but should be regarded as available to throw in as needed to get a good deal done. He’s way down on the bullpen depth chart, his confidence to throw the slider since his injury is suspect, and he was always head-casey (inconsistent) to begin with.

Brad Holt was just drafted.

Not at this point, no, he can't.
Later on in the offseason, he can.
He can’t be traded until June of next year. A PTBNL has to be traded within 6 months of the trade. So he can be traded if the trade happens 6 months after he was drafted.

I think Beane could flip Heilman to another club
either this winter, or after a year of pitching sanity at Oakland.
They're called RUNS for a reason.
Flipping Heilman to another club this offseason would be useless.
Let him get his stats up from pitching in Oaktown.
This.
I am totally loving this thread!
Keep ‘em coming y’all!
I like the deal bringing Murphy or Bowman to the A’s so let’s do it!
GIVE MURPHY!!!
A real 3b man, ahhhhhhh!!!
www.punditpolitics.com - Political IQ Tests, Pundit Blog, News and Opinion.
would i take him...sure
but his own value to mets goes way down since he’s blocked at 3b and instead becomes a utility type with a sub par glove
murphy for street…no thanks
murphy for an expendable pitcher like eveland, cassilla or a non top tier prospect. maybe even patterson/powell .
basically i’d trade a non core player for him. otherwise hope guzman/baisley can hold down a spot or look for another one like freese, craig, laroche, green, etc
or maybe uncle lew finds extra cash in his couch cushions and gets that cuban 3b

If I'm the Mets, though, I want closer to my player's value
than his “value to me” – I don’t think Eveland or Casilla is fair value for Murphy, whereas Street is. Maybe Murphy’s “lack of value to the Mets” means they have to add a piece to make that trade go, but it doesn’t mean they have to settle for an inferior player.

fair enough
but i’m not too high on the mets prospects compared to the brewers, stl, and indians etc
if the A’s apparently wanted hodges or mills + gutierrez/francisco, escobar or gamel earlier, would you take a murphy + offer from the mets?
my opinion, i dont think it would take street to pry away a freese, craig, hodges etc who are of a similar caliber to murphy

I guess it just depends how good one thinks Murphy is
If he’s no better than the others you mention then I agree. But if he is, I don’t think you can lowball just because of his value to the Mets – though it is a factor. I’m also looking at the fact that Street has only two years left on his contract, that he has not been injury free, and that he is coming off a season where he lost his closer’s job for a long stretch. Street is very good but his value is not what it was in 2005 or even in 2007.

If you think Casilla or Eveland can get someone like
Escobar, you seriously overvaluing them.

I think he's saying get Dan Murphy,
but I don’t see that happening either.

i assume A's asked for escobar in street dealings
i’m saying to get a good/solid, but not great 3b prospect like murphy, freese, hodges, craig, green etc
i dont think it would take street unless its one of the above guys + 1 or 2 solid pieces
that i think its possible to pry one of those prospects with a non top tier prospect or some combo of expendable reliever/sp
i wouldnt trade any top tier prospects or some of the better inexperienced players on the A’s
i’d trade among these players and see what they get:
eveland or smith
any reliever is fair game
mazzaro or simmons- depending on the deal
patterson

If you think that Smith, or Eveland
is going to get Murphy + stuff, it’s not going to happen. There’s no need for the Mets to make a trade like that.

once again
i’m either not conveying my thoughts clearly or you are misreading
i said i’m not sold on murphy or any of the mets prospects compared to those other teams
that trading street would take a 3b + another piece or two
i see other 3b of similar caliber to murphy, which are good but not great in hodges, craig, freese, green etc
i’d trade among these below players in a lesser deal for one of those 3b, which i dont see as far fetched
eveland or smith
any reliever is fair game
mazzaro or simmons- depending on the deal
patterson
stl; has glaus signed 2 more yrs. plus they’ll have freese, craig, wallace etc in AA and above
they have 2b issues and pitching issues. you dont think getting or freese for patterson and pitching isnt possible?
brewers- it would be tough to pry away gamel/escobaar unless you can convince them on street + something else. but they do have 3b green who wouldve been one of the ptbnl in the CC deal.
indians: i’m not sure of their 3b position long term, but its possible they shift peralta. hodges seems to be their only 3b prosect anytime soon. he ranked 18th best in the AA eastern league and isnt good defensively. they have reliever issues too

How about Murphy for Cardenas straight up
Good 3b prospect for good 2b prospect.
Mets need a second baseman, but have Castillo
A’s need a 3b in the worse way.
They're called RUNS for a reason.
Prospect for prospect trades are rare/never
(At least trades involving prospects at this talent level).
I think someone like Street is a much better starting place than Cardenas.

RE Huston Street...
I do think that Beane will trade him. I am just wondering if he will wait to see if Street can pitch a little better than he did last season so that he can trade him at an increased value. The blown saves and era have really hurt in regards to using Street as a trading chip. Does anyone think that Beane will wait?
Billy will trade him before season
IMO.
Street pitched very well (from memory) the last part.
He got his value up. I believe he got his velocity back up to 92-93 which of course coincided with better pitching. I think he only hung one or two sliders as opposed to every one he threw in the previous months before the last one.
