Jim Bowden makes a steal?
Wow, Jim Bowden might have just pulled off a Fucking-A Trade.
According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Nationals have picked up Scott Olsen and Josh Willingham from the Marlins for Emilio Bonifacio and a package of minor leaguers.
Two of the minor leaguers are right-hander P.J. Dean and infielder Jake Smolinski. Unless there's someone much better going to Florida that we don't know about yet, this could be a huge steal for the Nationals. We wouldn't trade either Olsen or Willingham for that trio, much less both. If the Marlins like Bonifacio that much, it could mean that Dan Uggla is on the way out. The Nats could pencil in Willingham at first base and then move him to the outfield if Nick Johnson is healthy.
This coming on the heels of our own Holliday.

Strange move.
I live here in S. FL and I follow the Marlins as well. This move makes little sense to me, unless something bigger is on the horizon. Olsen was starting to pitch better and THE HAMMER was coming off an injury (thats why the numbers were down). I seen the trade flash on EPSN News last night and I was a bit shocked. I already was not in agreement with what the A’s did, so that made it STRIKE 2.
This is going to be a interesting off season, to say the least.
Billy Beane plays with the A's like Legos.

I found this to be an odd trade as well. I tried explaining it to my brother but he is a Red Sox fan so he only follows what AL east teams so up until the postseason while I pretty much watch all teams and follow what is happening..though my love is only for a couple!!! But I really don’t understand this trade and I don’t like it for the Marlin. At all. Better hope they know something that everyone else is missing out on. Olsen is a decent pitcher though I really can’t stand the guy…and I love Willingham and his talent!

I’m sure someone has commented on this already, but I couldn’t resist. First time stopping by since the trade was made.

It's easy to understand
The Marlins are an incredibly cheap organization, and this is a salary dump as well as an asshole (Olsen) dump.
Great trade for Washington, who got something for almost nothing. These are the kinds of trades Washington desperately needs if the Nationals are going to be respectable. Olsen still has major potential if he can regain and maintain his previous velocity, and Willingham will help the Nationals offense strive for respectability.
This is a Fucking-A Trade, Zonis.

I'll say this about Bowden
When he hits one out, stadiums put band-aids on the promenade.

what did he give up for Dukes?
Put Willingham out there with Dukes and Mr. lifelong-rfloh-signature and that should be a pretty good OF. One to watch, at least

Olsen sucks, but getting Willingham for this pile of poop is pretty *$*^(*^ impressive

Willingham was a great fantasy asset
That one year he played OF but had catcher eligibility. Since then he’s blah.

Olney liked PJ Dean...
I personally know nothing about the Marlins are receiving in exchange, but BlameChannel53 usually knows what he’s talking about, so I’ll take his word for it that it was a fucking A trade.
