How Billy got his Holliday...
Just when I was thinking about whether or not to continue producing my graphics, Billy appears to have completed another "A-trade"...
...and I guessed it was time to try to give a visual perspective of how the A's got here:
Note: Just to say that I know this (almost) breaks the rules on word count but fanshots don't allow a high enough resolution for anyone to be able to see any of the detail...

cool chart...but I don't get it
Two-thirds of the earth is covered by water, the other third is covered by Kotsay...in his prime...like 3 years ago.
Why so?
The chart shows the drafts/trades from the A’s perspective, so…
Draft Mulder
Trade him for Calero/Barton and Haren
Draft Robertson
Trade him and Haren for Gonzalez, Smith et al
Draft Street (using comp pick from letting Tejada walk)
Trade him, Gonzalez and Smith for Holliday
it was easier to read after I zoomed in...nice work!

I thought this was going to be a story...
like some news about Lew selling his soul for a ballpark deal and $100+ mil payroll until it opens
an overrated college pitcher
from nc state who A’s drafted because he was the family friend of an A’s scout
not much later pedroia went to red sox in same round
same 04 draft, was windsor supposed to be the next blanton lol

"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' Actually, don't say that, that wouldn't be very nice." -Steve Friend, Head Coach, Chabot College Gladiators Baseball
I thought we were going to get a blues singer thread

If you look at the trade this way
The A’s made out like bandits. Even in fantasy baseball if you offered Tejada and Muldger + the extra junk/draft picks, you could never acquire Matt Holliday. Fun exercise.
