Red Sox good for baseball
As much as I hate the Red Sox nation as the next green and gold fan, it just occured to me that Red Sox is actually good for baseball. Put it simply, they make money for baseball. Whether it being long time massholes at home, or bandwagoners on the road, or red sox haters coming to see them lose, they do draw a crowd. Plus red sox fans are known drunks, and drunks are easily parted with their money via over-priced consessions and merchandises. If there were no red soxes (or the Yankeess), baseball may become more competitive for true fans, but will also make less money, and less TV coverage, and may become like hokey or soccer.
I feel dirty now, like Gordon Gekko.

So the Red Sox are good for the business of baseball
but bad for the game of baseball?

It all has to do with exposure
If more teams got national exposure on a continuous basis, I have a hard time believing that we would see the sharp changes in ratings. The Red Sox are forced upon us constantly. The Rays, only when they play the Red Sox. Given equal (and un-biased) national exposure, I have no doubt that ratings would even out regardless of the teams playing.

Revenue Sharing,
it can only help the A’s in the long run, the Red Sox a major contributor.

Don't think I buy this one. Maybe you are too young to remember
what baseball was like before the espnization/yankees/red sox force feeding session began ad nauseum circa 1998.
I remember growing up thinking that both the red sox and yankees were just another team (which i still believe they are).
Selig et al. have allowed the bastardization of baseball to degrade to the point of Yankees v. Red Sox.

I don't see how this is Selig's fault.
He’s not directing ESPN or Fox to focus exclusively on the Yankees and RS.

In the last years Selig has helped to fix this problem is baseball and make it better,
we cannot criticize him in this respect.

How exactly?
I’m not saying its not true, but I just don’t know what he’s done to fix the problem

Revenue sharing does nothing to change the amount
of national media coverage a team receives

On a day to day level, probably not
but it does give other teams a better chance to compete, thereby forcing some level of coverage at some point. So while it’s not really a solution to this particular problem, I think the problem would be even worse without it.

he's definitely been good for all the pitchers he's faced

And for the baseball itself
Assuming that being hit by a large wooden stick is bad for a baseball.
