Open Thread - World Series Game 2 (cont)
After six full, the Rays lead the Phillies 4-0, in an attempt to even up the series. Despite keeping Philadelphia scoreless, starting pitcher Shields has departed, having thrown more than 100 pitches. Meanwhile, Myers continues to do battle in hopes his offense will come through and give him a chance for the W.

Why were those mock-Kieltys (Kielties?) wearing Phillies shirts?
Should’ve been wearing Ronald McDonald outfits instead.
Too bad SLUT isn't a word either.

I'm here to talk about the past.
I'm sad that we have to see this many previews for "Four Christmases."
I saw a preview in the theater a few weeks ago, and that was enough.
Finally getting a chance to watch one of these games

Huh. I didn't know that's what BJ stands for.
I actually learned something from a FOX broadcast. That’s scary.
And I was thinking that they ran out of original material...
and were re-using stuff they’ve already said.
39 remarkable innings.
They probably have said it already.
I generally don’t pay a whole lot of attention to Buck and McCarver, so I could have easily missed it the first few times around.

I've learned all kinds of things from Fox broadcasts
Jeannie Zolasko (and I don’t care how it is spelled) is a clueless moron.
Joe Buck is a worthless sack of dog feces riding his dad’s fame to earn a fortune.
Tim McCarver says some of the stupidest things imaginable.

Fine, I'll react to the actual game
Homer:
1. Boooo
2. I call that guy Gruntlett. He was an absolute comedy of errors earlier this season. I generally feel kind of bad for him, so even though I hate the Philthies, it doesn’t bother me that much to see this particular guy homer.
If Joe actually cared about the events he was being paid to broadcast ...

Price picked a relatively good time. J.D. Drew being a particularly bad time.

So what did everyone think of the way Maddon mananged tonight?
Personally I thought that they should have brought in J.P. for Utley/Howard, but obviously the move they made worked out fine, your thoughts?
I can see bringing in Howell, in that Price
wasn’t as sharp tonight as he had shown before. But I think when Maddon brought him in his intent was to let Price finish the game, rather than trying to find several guys who could be effective.
At that point (Utley/Howard), Price was a “known quantity” – he was throwing fine – so better to stick with that rather than find out, maybe the hard way, whether Howell is on his game that night.
In sum, given that the team has no “true closer” (like Lidge) to choose, I think Maddon played it fine.
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
I think Maddon set himself up well
for the next two games by leaving Price in.
There’s not much of a book on Price, and that is a big advantage in a short series. Wasn’t Wheeler with the Astros? Some of the TB bullpen, the PHI players already know. But not Price.
JP will get his turn when the game is closer or tied. I think that works.
Officially awaiting the 2009 season.

good game
Maddon manages his rays very similar to what he saw with the angels (the winning way)
“get ’em on, move ’em over and get ’em in”. he is also willing to takes risks with the suicide bunt, and leave the rookie in to face utley and howard.
i think that is the kind of manager the A’s need.
When it was 3-0,
the Phillies had squandered two leadoff doubles and a first/third one out opportunity. That’s a 3-3 game if you just keep “moving them over”.
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
The Phillies sure have had chances in the series so far,
just like tonight when they out hit the Rays. The Phillies are 1 for something with runners in scoring position so far, they will definitely need to improve this in the next few games.
I thought that I wouldn't care who won,
but i lied. Philly just seems like the big bad wolf to me for some reason. Go Rays!
