Crap.
I thought the game came on later. :(
But he came back. And there was much rejoicing.

Carlos Pena already out of the game
Don’t know why

I like him a lot....
ESPN treated him so badly with that whole situation….and so mysterious about everything. Happy to see him doing big games again.
Bring back Hammer.

Yeah. Screw ESPN!
We should be nice to Sexually Harrassing Sports Casters!

Right...
Because you know what happened beyond just the huge he admitted to…..and because ESPN paid him a settlement for the wrongful termination because they like giving away money. Pretty big jump to just assume he is a “Sexually Harassing Sports Caster” because some rumors out of ESPN said so.

I've been watching TBS on mute.
Okay, I watch most games on mute. I can’t stand announcers lately. I’ve had a few guest ask why they have to watch silent baseball.
But he came back. And there was much rejoicing.

Have to...he is terrible...
And Wise just made it worthwhile.
Bring back Hammer.

Terrible? You're kidding, right?
The guy has been the unluckiest hitter in baseball this year. Everything suggests he should be hitting close to 50 points higher.

so .231 with some luck?
Swisher has been horrible, I dont think he deserves to be starting…at all.
Bring back Hammer.

Well, then, you're wrong. It's pretty simple.

He had one month ALL YEAR
where he didnt totally suck….That isnt luck. He sucked this year..does not deserve to be out there. Sorry.
Bring back Hammer.

Oh, this is getting good.
The guy has a line drive% of 20.something. He has a BABIP of around .250.
That’s called bad luck.
by thejd44 on Oct 2, 2008 12:26 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
It is getting good, how bout September contact rate of 63%
That isnt bad luck..that’s just bad.
Line Drive rates: July 19, August 14, September 15…..So maybe 20 earlier, but surely not late. He’s been terrible lately. His expected BA from metrics in September….211. Not luck, just bad.
Not disputing overall season …..2nd half he has been horrible, not just unlucky..based on the huge long slump, he shouldnt be in there.
Bring back Hammer.

Who's to say his luck is going to change?
It’s hard to run a player out there who simply hasn’t produced (unlucky or not).

But he isnt.
So they are right to sit him.

I don't care if Wise just homered
Guillen is a complete moron for starting him over Swisher.

Swisher .181 since the Break.....He's horrid.
Cant start him.

See my reply to your comment above
He’s only been horrid because of some ridiculously unlucky at bats.

He does some good things as a manager
I wish Bob Geren understood bullpen usage the way Guillen does. Guillen has a lot less to work with and manages to get the most out of relievers.

Random funny thing
A fictional player in my OOTP league is named Paul Thomas. He’s not bad either.

Anybody know why Pena had to leave the game?

I wish we had a 3rd baseman with 1/8th of his talent
Longoria is a monster
May the Angels have only bad luck in the playoffs and anything bad goes as long as they lose, short of DEATH that is.
