Rooting against the Sox at Fenway is a life-risking maneuver.
I’m willing to do it for the A’s, even in the middle of a losing season, but not for any other team. Also, I don’t have that kind of scratch just lying around. The leaves fell off the money tree, as it were.

I missed the last inning
because I heard a funny noise in the kitchen — went out there — didn’t see anything. Sat back down — heard it again — this time I could isolate it as coming from a cupboard. A mouse? No, it was a baby raccoon, which had apparently got in through the cat door that a previous tenant had put in that led to the roof.

Shut the cupboard door again real fast
Considered drowning it, but eventually I decided to do the humane thing. So I trapped it in a wastebasket, and put a cookie sheet on top; took it outside and let it out on Euclid. Unfortunately today was one of the few days that I found a parking place in front of my building, so it ran under my car. I hope it doesn’t climb up into the engine or something.

Raccoons tipped over the garbage in the kitchen last night – apparently Poochini is not all that ferocious or intimidating. Now I know to blame you for all this.

Had a raccoon in our backyard a few years ago
Our dog was going nuts on the patio. When I went outside, I could see the raccoon on the back yard wall. I grabbed my trusty aluminum leaf rake and held it up like a battering ram as I approached it. The raccoon was petrified – it just stood there while I came up. I gave the damn thing a little bump with the rake, and it fell over the wall and landed on the sidewalk behind the house with a thud. Just then I heard this peal of hysterical laughter coming from Mrs doctorK, who had been watching from the patio door. She later told me that it looked like the raccoon had this expression on its face like “oh shit!” as it went over the wall.

I just have to say,
I started feeling sorry for Craig Sager when he did his little piece on the number of pieces of Double Bubble Terry Francona has been chewing in this game. Seriously. They make him wear those clothes, and talk about bubble gum? That’s just cruel.
(Tangentially, Francona has apparently chewed upwards of 72 pieces already. Surprised he still has a jaw to chew with.)

You know that commercial Anderson Cooper does about turning out your lights during game 4?
If game 4 lasts as long as this one, we can save enough money on energy costs to bail out another 7 companies.

For some reason, I always thought the ‘Facial Hair’ one was starring Chavez, until I finally noticed the title said Haren. Duh. I could never figure out why they would compare Chavez to Street.

I figure Wheeler the 9th and if it goes extras,
go to Price. He may have some jitters but at the same time the Red Sox haven’t seen him and that could work to the Rays’ advantage.

Why jitters?
Facing the heart of the Red Sox order in a “can’t give up a run or you go down 2-0 in the series” situation, when he’s pitched just a handful of major league innings, one in the ALCS – I’d expect a few jitters.
