Interview with Mr. Beane
There's a interview with Billy Beane about a video game that Billy is involved with on The Sporting News website. The game sounds like a baseball version of the NFL Head Coach game where you get to take total control of MLB franchise as GM and Manager. There is also a funny quote on why Billy doesn't play fantasy baseball. It's a pretty good interview and I just thought I'd let everybody know.

There’s one part of the game that I love, which is like owner’s competence — meaning that the better decisions you make over time, you increase your owner’s competence and your ability to make those decisions and, therefore, get sort of more leeway to make more decisions and ultimately, hopefully, have an increased budget, etcetera, etcetera.
competence or confidence?

Very cool
Billy knows how to turn it on. I’m deeply disappointed in myself for finding this game’s premise somewhat exciting.
Ryan Sweeney: I probably irrationally embraced him before you did.
The game sounds like a crappy version of Out of the Park.

Curious
I’ll be interested to see what this new take is like. Having gotten used to the absolutely sublime interface of Sports Interactive’s Football Manager series over the years, I was very disappointed with OotP when I bought it (2007 version). The detail to the game was alright, but the game itself was clunky and even a little buggy. For a game without the license to use real names, I was expecting much better gameplay.
So yeah…a new take on things but with a license? I’d be very happy to try it out.
