I've come to the realization that there is no way

I could root for the Slegna. To rip off Bill Simmons, the only way I could cheer them on is if Lackey was on the edge of a roof and someone started to yell “jump jump jump”.

I was just rereading Ball Four and Bouton says something like that.

Coaches would tell them about “a first pitch hitter”-let me know when he always swings at the sixth pitch…

And since I am complaining about this wonderful broadcast-they mentioned earlier that Aybar led Slegna in infield hits. Who the hell cares? Like it was his incredible strategy not to be strong enough to get the ball out of the infield.

I think he thought Youk would take longer getting it.

Youk made a nice stab at it to keep it with him. I think Vlad thought if he missed it he would have a chance. And as it was happening, I thought that might occur. But thats why you have a third base coach that you should watch.

As far as pieces I'm at peace with giving up,

the best I can do is Street, Mazzaro, Crosby. More likely something like Gallagher and Street gets the Red Sox attention.

by miggyk2 on Oct 1, 2008 10:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Interesting - but I don't think the Sox would do it

They must feel Masterson is set-up material if he’s setting up Game 1 of the ALDS so Street would be a two-year upgrade of someone they like as a six-year option. Which means they’d probably have to like Gallagher – Lowrie straight up to do that deal.

They either really like Masterson or really hate their other options

I think Masterson could be a solid starter. I am a big fan of starters with a heavy sinker. A back end of Street and Paps would be pretty solid.
