A Couple of New Additions to AN
ANers, I just wanted to let you know that we've created a SportsBlogs Nation playoff hub where you can go to instantly see what is happening on the other blogs all around SBN during the baseball playoffs. We put a widget right under the fanposts in case you find that you forget where it is. I find it really fun to watch the playoffs through fans' eyes for other teams.
Also, there is now a list of AN fanposts in an almost message board format here. The URL is at www.athleticsnation.com/fanposts.
Oh and one other thing. I hope you're reading Paul Depodesta's blog It Might Be Dangerous. In particular, I really enjoyed this post in looking at how a baseball executive approaches a waiver wire claim. This seems like classic A's-type of move only he did it for the Padres.
Thanks and Go Rays!

You know, Beane would never do something like this
‘Cause if he did start blogging I’d find out about it and then I’d start leaving comments and then Beane would have to go into hiding because there is no freaking way I wouldn’t blast him for some of the calls he’s made and is likely to make in the near future.

right i'm sure he's intimidated because you know way more about baseball than beane
maybe first you should challenge him in fantasy baseball.

You could join us in our fantasy league
we’d need someone to be in last place.

right, but i'm not claiming to know more than billy beane
also, if i was running the a’s i probably wouldn’t stop doing it because my fantasy team was sucking, like i’ve lost interest in fantasy the last two years because the a’s have made real baseball unbearable to watch.
a free fantasy league isn’t the same as real life baseball. at the end of the day beane is a successful GM and you’re a firefighter who finished in 4th place playing a free yahoo fantasy baseball league with 11 other ANers who are also not real GMs.
you write a pretty decent column every few weeks, but don’t embarrass yourself.

Speaking of embarrassing one's self
I’d link you to link the comment I made on this thread in which I claim to know more then Billy Beane.
What I said was, I would call him out on some of the decisions he’s made. I would criticize the mistakes he’s made and if you don’t think he’s made any mistakes then why has it been so tough for you to enjoy A’s baseball the last two years?
Beane could, of course, turn around and criticize some of my misdeeds but in my case the mistakes have been much less public so he’d have to look harder to find ammunition. More importantly old friend, saying the man would have to go into hiding is an absolutely ludicrous statement because if push came to shove the guy could just ban me from his website. Pull your head out of whatever hole it is in and notice the snark. How much further did I have to push to push the joke before it got through your skull? Should I have mentioned Witness Protection? Plastic surgery? What?!
Fuckin-A man, you used to have a sense of humor.

that would be interesting to see

Somehow I doubt any of us will drive him into hiding

Wtf, that was weird
Anyway, as I was saying. When DePo was (wrongly) fired from the Dodgers job, any idea why he didnt return to the A’s? Was it just because the assistant GM position was filled or was there a falling out?

Makes sense
And, actually, I think I’d rather live in San Diego than the Bay Area. The Bay Area seems great and all, but… San Diego is sort of a dream place of mine (mostly for the weather).

Having lived in both for some period of time
I’d much prefer the bay. SD may be a nice place to raise a family but I was not much of a fan of the people there. Much prefer the bay in that regard. Also much easier to get around up north.

Hands down,
San Diego. I lived there for two years. The weather is even better than the bay.

Yeah, plus he has a good situation down there
He’ll probably get the GM job when Towers retires/moves into an emeritus position (a la Schuerholz, Ryan, etc). That wasn’t likely to be the case in Oakland, since Beane had a pretty much new group of acolytes by that point.

Since we thought Blez was referring to people, does that mean you and I have more of a "Life’ then typical bloggers?
