I just wanted to thank AN for all your support, and your votes for our MLB video, "The Ultimate Trailer". We won the weeks contest by the highest margin in the history of Actober.com! Meaning 50% of everyone voted for our video out of the 5 finalists. In the near future, I will again need your help so that the A's can be brought to national prominence. There will be a final contest in the next month or so, and if we win, it is quite possible that this Athletics feature film idea I've been throwing around could actually be made. fyi i'm doing this shit to try and get some funding to make a feature about the OAKLAND Athletics before they move to Fremont. I've been an A's fan since I was 3, my dad watched them win their 3 WS in the 70s. I bleed green and gold - go A's; and come down to Anaheim with that anger so we can make some of these Angels fans shut the fuck up...

How exactly is this video promoting the A's? I see it more as a promotion of Derik Jeter, like he needs it!

Maybe I am watching it wrong, but honestly, I feel like you are ripping on the A's. Don't we get enough of that from East Coast Bias, Derik Jeter loving, Sports Media world?

Why you so pissed, dawg? I've been an A's fan since I was a kid, my dad was an A's fan, saw them win all their WS in the 70s...I entered this contest to make a mockery of Derek Jeter, and also rep the A's hard because we are in the beginning stages of making a feature about the OAKLAND Athletics before they move to Fremont. It's ironic that 50,000 people voted for this shit in one week, yet you, as an A's fan, has an issue with it. Just to let you know the reason behind this - I want the country to know more about the history of the Oakland Athletics before they move to fuckin Fremont.
I was at the ALDS and ALCS last year, including game 1 in detroit - i bleed Oaktown.

I honestly don't understand all the hate going around here. It seems pretty obvious to me that the main point of the video is to make fun of Derek Jeter, and I don't see a darn thing wrong with that. I don't know, maybe if the video was centered around Byrnes' inability to touch home plate in '03 I would have been less inclined to laugh.

BTW, but I'm not sure if people realize this, but participants in this contest were not able to come up with the themes themselves. There were 5 themes to choose from and the only one involving the A's was the Jeter play (or as I prefer to call it -- the Giambi f*ck up). I agree it doesn't promote the A's, but making fun of Jeter (and Jeremy for being such a moron) is some kind of consolation prize... at least for me.

too late to be on this blog...

no, the feature will be about a Berkeley kid whose mom gets really sick, so he is unable to pursue his dream to play baseball. he has to go work in the shipyards with his dad and brother. then he meets a girl, love, and he decides to play ball again. based on a mixture of real life and The Natural-esque/Rocky feel good sports story. all to bay area music - E40, the crows, etc. etc. - and more comedy then any drama really should have. it'll be good times.
